The Slightly Longer Panama Canal Cruise

Thanks for the photo information Old Nutter. I’ve been using Photo Explosion for many years and I’m hesitant to give it up and learn new software again. It does seem that people who are serious about their photos always use Photoshop.

I never would have thought of the rock formation as a dinosaur until you mentioned it. Yes, it does look like a huge petrified dinosaur.

I enjoyed all of your photos and I love your whale shot. The photo that knocked my socks off though was the flying fish. That had to be tough to get.

I have finally processed all of the pictures I took and reduced them almost to manageable numbers. I have put them together here into a video if anyone wants to spend the 25 minutes or so seeing our trip as it happened through our eyes. Enjoy. (Note: There is no soundtrack to avoid copyright issues on any music choices I might have had)

Thank you. That was great. Difficult to watch without the sound, but still awesome.

For future reference - don't worry so much about copyright issues. Even though you might be in the wrong by using copy protected music for your video here, unless your youtube channel has 2 million subscribers and you're pulling in $10k per month from Youtube/Google in advertising revenue, no copyright holder really cares about your cutesy little home video watched by a couple dozen people.

Thanks bunches for the pictures. DH & I are headed out on 2/2/15 from LAX to MIA on basically the same cruise (no Alcapulco, but a couple others instead).

Here's my DH's question -- is the casino open on the Star while you're going through the Canal?

Dumb question, I know; it's his, not mine!!!

I am sorry but I have no idea about the casino during the panama transit. We were way too busy watching everything about the canal to even go inside to see what else was going on. Hopefully there will be someone along who can help.

Enjoy your February trip and I hope that the whales will be around for you to see when you go to Cabo on the way down. Unfortunately we had to go on our cruise in November because of our daughter's job so apart from the humpback that welcomed us to Cabo, the majority were still on their way down the coast. I know friends who have been out in the small boats in February and March and have ended up almost cuddling up to and stroking grey whale calves.

We saw grey whales in Monterey Bay a few years ago when they were heading back up the coast on their way back to Alaskan waters trying to avoid the hungry orcas - such a superb experience.
