Helsinki question

When I was in Helsinki, there was no shuttle, but we weren't far from downtown. Check on the Baltic forums. We walked to a tram stop near the ship, took a tram to the round church, then one down to the outdoor market area. People can speak English quite well and when we were unsure where to get off the tram going back to the ship (had to transfer), someone on board helped us out. And all this was in the rain!

A few years ago we caught a bus right outside the port that took us right downtown. We purchased a pass that was all inclusive for buses, trams and the ferry and once in town took the ferry to the island fortress. We loved walking around the island. We then came back and walked around the market at the port. From there we had lunch just below the cathedral. After lunch we took a tram to the Rock church, saw the beautiful train station and came back to the centre of town where we caught a bus right back to the ship. All in all Helsinki and their transportation system made for one of our favourite ports. Enjoy your day.

We did this on our rccl cruise it was cheap to get the bus ticket, we pre booked online a tour of the fortress island which was great, we were given a free tour of a house. We had a light lunch on the island. It was a highlight of our cruise and can definitely recommend
