Can I sail on Norwegian and NOT go freestyle?

Look at it this way... just keep feeding the group's complainers cocktails and it won't matter to them anymore where exactly they're going. Just keep explaining that "we're on the way" as you stop at each bar. If the chief complainer happens to be the self-elected group leader, they should follow the presribed advice above and all will wonderful!

Lol. The clue is in my screen name. I prefer cruising solo and so NCL meets my requirements 100%, cheap studios, get to meet others and I can quite happily drift between venues. Not uncommon for me to have a drink in Maltings, Shakers. O'Sheehans, then headliners and Bliss .. :D

I'm saying that whenever I've spoke with say Royal Caribbean cruisers they are used to nightly shows in the theatre which are early show for 2nd sitting and late show for first sitting and that's it. Every night . :)

I get what you're saying. Perhaps RCI was a bad example though, since the shows are in multiple venues and the headliner show plays several dates and times on 3 of their ship classes. Good to know NCL is now doing that on their newest ships. I'd like to try it sometime. I had Breakaway booked for the end of this month, but had to cancel. :(

Just FYI, for some reason, Indy is the only Freedom Class ship without a Broadway production and still on the traditional show schedule.

I guess it depends on why you like traditional dining. We have friends who love it; they like the idea of being met at the door and escorted to their table, being called by their names, and having a relationship with 3 other couples that they get to know over the course of a cruise. For them, its the main thing they like about cruising, and often don't leave the ship in port. Everything else is secondary and traditional dining, along with other traditional cruise events (formal night, etc.) are the reason to go on a cruise.

They are horrified that we don't enjoy that at all. But for us, the cruise ship is not the destination; it is the means to an end. The purpose of cruising for us is to see new places and the dining experience is nice if it more closely mimics how we dine on land ... we choose when we want to eat, sit with each other and are more than happy not to see the same people every night. We enjoy the ports much more than the ship, frankly, although we do enjoy the ship too.

As far as the original question, the answer is YES. On Breakaway at least. See the Freestyle Daily below.

On the top left under Dining Reservations Options. You get the same table and the same waiter each and every night. You just have to eat early, between 5:30 and 6:00 in the three main dining rooms.

I hope that isn't a Breakaway only offering. I would love to be able to sign up for that on our upcoming Epic cruise!

I was able to find dailies from a Getaway sailing (from March 2014)and it is also offered there for seatings from 5:00 until 5:30 in the Main Dining Rooms. I haven't found the recent Epic dailies yet.

ETA: I found Epic and it does not have it listed there. So maybe it's just the newest ships.

The Dawn had this option last year. I don't understand people liking sharing atable with strangers every night. On the spirit we were asked if we were willing to share a table two different nights and said yes. We were stuck with some very annoying people that we had a hard time getting away from the entire cruise. We have never said yes to sharing a table again. You never know what your going to get for table mates.

I never liked the idea of Freestyle -- we are traditionalists and enjoy having a set dining time with the same wait staff every night. Can we still get that on Norwegian, or is there absolutely no way? Would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks.

As many have said previously, NCL may not be right for you BUT in reviewing the Dailies for the GA I noticed the "Dining Reservation Options"

which states this is possible

sorry, I see this was answered many times before.. sorry for the repeat! :o
