Late evening arrival FLL, sailing from Miami- what to do?

It's time to do our pre-cruise arrangements and I'm not sure what's best.

Our flight arrives around 8:45pm into FLL 2/20. We cruise from POM 2/21. Are we better served by staying in Fort Lauderdale that night, or going to Miami so we will already be there in the morning? Generally, I'm more concerned with convenience than cost (not that I want to spend crazy money on a hotel we'll be in for 12 hrs, and I've gathered that Miami is likely to be more expensive than Fort Lauderdale). We do want to be able to get some necessities like wine/soda/sunscreen and I'm guessing we'll need to do that in the a.m. due to the late time we're arriving.

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

I agree with the above. http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area lodging info - lots of chain hotels near FLL or in the downtown/17th street area.

Most of the popular shuttle services list the hotels they will pick-up at on their web sites, saving you a trip back to FLL the next day just to catch your ride to POM.
