algaes Posted January 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2015 For those of us on upcoming maiden season voyages booked in 2013, we saw the following language on Viking website FAQs: "IS THERE INTERNET ACCESS ON BOARD? Wi-fi access is available throughout the ship and is complimentary so you can remain connected." while 2013 brochure had "Restrictions apply" footnote. Current website now has: "Is there Internet access on board? Wi-Fi access is available throughout the ship and is complimentary in port so you can remain connected." as well as something that sounds like potential volume or speed throttling but could mean at sea versus in port usage "Complimentary Wi-Fi (Subject to certain usage policies)" I wonder if the 2013 open ended commitment was sloppy copywriting or if they ran into technical issues. Not looking to pick a fight with Viking Oceans but I know what I'll be doing on my second stop in Dubrovnik and three days in Barcelona having been to both previously. kathy9 Posted January 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2015 Here is the email I received from Viking Oceans a few months ago....The free WI-Fi isn't really all that free..... Thank you for your recent online inquiry. Restrictions on wireless service are as follows: V and DV cabins are limited to 50mb per day. They can upgrade to unlimited downloads for $4.95 per day. Other cabins have unrestricted access. All cabins can access video streaming for a charge of $11.95 per day. ·
