Capri is anytime but many reservations have made for very long lines to get a beeper to wait to be seated (the first two nights anyway). We were told thus is unusual. Portofino has early dinner at 5:30 and opens to anytime at 7:45 if the 5:30 diners are done being served.

Today is La Paz. We were serenaded by a 9 piece band for several hours. The port is a free shuttle bus away from town, and there are about 20 vendors set up here on the dock. The weather's really been nice, altho a bit cool late yesterday afternoon. Last night we had dinner at Sabatinis. IMHO, the ultimate balcony dinner at twice the price, but including cocktails, hors d'ouevres, a photo, champagne, flowers, etc., is a much better deal.

Loreto is like taking a small step to the past. It is a quaint town that reminds everyone of Cabo San Lucas 25 years ago. We walked around town and enjoyed the local sites. The weather was over cast and cooler than Cabo. We had a nice lunch at a local restaurant and enjoyed speaking with a few of the Americans who now reside there. One gentlemen is helping the fire department by selling Loreto Fire Department t-shirts. So if you happen to be in Loreto, make sure you show you support by purchasing a shirt or a bottle of water. Loreto was great and we look forward to returning

Our travel agent advised us to take the Todos Santos tour out of La Paz, as the town itself is very industrial. So we signed up for the Hotel California and Todos Santos tour, leaving at 7:30 am. The brochure said it was a 75 minute ride, but in actuality, it was a bit over 2 hours, with a guide that was very nice, but not really well informed about the area. In Todos Santos, we visited a museum and a mission before having lunch at “the” Hotel California. I believe this must be a new tour, as it has the makings of being fun and informative, but falls flat. Thank goodness it was a Princess tour as we arrived a half hour late back to the ship due the guide giving everyone misinformation about timing.

We “free styled” in Puerta Vallarta, taking one of the plentiful vans to the Malecon. We strolled and enjoyed the beautiful Pacific Coast, the local artists and people watching. It was warm, boarding on hot and we enjoyed a cold beer and guacamole and chips at Oscars. It was very relaxing there and we saw whales playing just off the coast. We wanted to send postcards home and locating a post office was an adventure. After many misdirections, we found the post office and were successful sending home postcards. I’m sure we’ll arrive home before the postcards make it to their destinations.

Taking a taxi back to the ship, we walked around the Mercado across from the ship and enjoyed a Margarita and even a shot of tequila. We’re back on ship now waiting to start our three sea days before arriving back at San Francisco. More later..
