shot2bits Posted January 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Basically, I need a hotel for one night with parking for 14 days with transport to and from the port. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations gratefully accepted. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Morgans Posted January 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Holiday Inn, Eastleigh offers a cruise package with transport and parking which we have used a couple of times. It has always worked very well and the hotel is very pleasant. Can recommend.

caber Posted January 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Try the Mercure Dolphin Hotel. We stayed in it when we fly in but I am sure it does the parking offers too.
wilson2579 Posted January 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2015 I have stayed and parked in the Holiday Inn in Southampton and the Mercure both good. Mercure is quite a bit cheaper but the room was very hot.
Lovemychoos Posted January 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2015 The Dolphin do a 'cruise and stay' package, £129 B&B, 2 weeks parking. An extra £20 get you taxis to and from the port. We've used the many times, and will again this year. No complaints - a very central hotel, you car isn't taken off site, and its easy walking distance to many restaurants and bars if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Rare Presto2 Posted January 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Another vote for the Holiday Inn - great views, right by the docks with great views and lovely staff. Stayed there twice and another stay booked. Have also done the Dolphin about 2010 and would not use again.
Cruiserjules Posted January 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Another vote for the Dolphin. Ask for a room in the stable block, its a bit away from the main hotel. Breakfast is fabulous! If you do book this, you need to put "Back of the walls road" into your satnav and not the postcode. The postcode takes you to the front of the hotel, not the back where the entrance is. Good advice I also use the intersection of BotWS and Canal Walk which is the entrance to the Dolphin Car Park.
CCFC Posted January 6, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Holiday Inn, Herbert Walker Avenue, gets my vote. I haven't tried the others as it does what we need, parking onsite and great views of the ships coming and going.
Iceland Posted January 6, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) We stayed at Holiday Inn by the docks in November and thought it was fine and would stay there again. The price of £168 included breakfast and return taxi transfer. Edited January 6, 2015 by Iceland

madeinwales Posted January 7, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 7, 2015 Try the Mercure Dolphin Hotel. We stayed in it when we fly in but I am sure it does the parking offers too. We always stay here as they do a stay and park offer that includes transfers too
grush240 Posted January 7, 2015 #16 Share Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Another vote for Holiday Inn, we ate in town in the evening but the breakfast was good. Kev Edited January 7, 2015 by grush240
indiana123 Posted January 7, 2015 #17 Share Posted January 7, 2015 Apologies for going a bit off thread but for anyone not needing the parking, or getting it included in cruise fare.... We booked into the West Quay Premier Inn and we were amazed. What value, and we booked early the the cost was £34 for the two of us!
Adammara Posted January 7, 2015 #18 Share Posted January 7, 2015 Yet another vote for Holiday Inn, Herbert Walker Avenue! Lots of restaurants nearby if you don't fancy eating in!
CCFC Posted January 7, 2015 #19 Share Posted January 7, 2015 My ONE complaint about the Holiday Inn at Herbert Walker Avenue is the price of the drinks. Its £4.00 a pint, reassuringly expensive? The breakfast is great, buffet style. We walked to the Wetherspoons in town for an evening meal, takes about 15 minutes if you don't look at all the history on the way there. wilson2579 Posted January 8, 2015 #20 Share Posted January 8, 2015 I have just looked to book with the Holiday inn and their room and parking for 14 nights is now £220 in August. We really like it here but will probably book the Mercure in the town which is £149, quite a difference in price.
caber Posted January 8, 2015 #21 Share Posted January 8, 2015 Again off thread, we arrived at the airport to find there was a 45 minute wait for a taxi. A bus pulled up which took us to High Street right at the door of the Dolphin Hotel. It's a great location for shops, restaurants and pubs. HARRIS40 Posted January 8, 2015 #22 Share Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton our price included breakfast & return taxis organised by hotel, on return ring the number they give you & they text you vehicle model & registration. Very quick & efficient. We ate out in Sourhampton at night but breakfast was very good in the morning. However I have heard good reviews of the holiday inn! :):):) Sent from my iPad using Forums Edited January 8, 2015 by HARRIS40
Josy1953 Posted January 11, 2015 #23 Share Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) Do you have to leave your car keys at the hotel? We are planning to try one of these hotels in March but I would prefer to take my keys with me. Edited January 11, 2015 by Josy1953
Bacardi.. Posted January 11, 2015 #24 Share Posted January 11, 2015 I certainly won't be going back to the Mecure Dolphin. We thought we would see some friends the weekend before our cruise. They put us in the better room (their words) it was in the court yard. The noise of guests at a wedding standing outside kept us awake till around 2.30-3.00, plus the mattress was harder than the floor. Imagine your bedroom door facing onto a street with drunk people smoking and chatting loudly. Then in the morning cars driving past on gravel. Later that day I wanted to watch lewis win the f1title so sat In the bar and watched it. The wife went and bought a few goodies for the cabin. Just as the race finished our friends arrived, my wife asked if she could leave her bag behind reception. They said yes, on our return we found why they said yes it was so they could eat all them all. If they can't be trusted with a £10 bag of goodies there's no way I would leave my keys with them. richleeds Posted January 11, 2015 #25 Share Posted January 11, 2015 Mercure is quite a bit cheaper but the room was very hot. I hate that. Especially now hotels are moving towards non opening windows and you cannot cool your room down or get any fresh air in there.
