Things to do in South Florida

I am looking for suggestions on what to do. We disembark in Fort Lauderdale in the morning, but our flight out of Miami is not until around 8:00. It is just my wife and I. We have done the boat tour of the area houses and also the airboat ride and aligator farm tour that Princess offers as an excursion. We currently don't have any transportation arranged for anywhere. Thought about renting a car, but not excited about driving. Kind of interested in going to South Beach or any beach area. We are up for any suggestions.

We are in a similar situation. Our flight doesn't leave until 8:30pm from MIA. We are renting a minivan from Alamo for $30 for the day and plan to drive to Key Largo (1 1/2 hr drive each way from Miami) and do some other sightseeing possibly.

I would priceline a pool hotel in South Beach.

The hotel will let you check in early if your room is ready but if it isn't, you can always leave your bags with the front desk. You can have a wonderful pool day, shower, change, go somewhere for an early dinner, pick up your bags and head to the airport.

Don't go to coral castle. It's not worth it. It is kind of interesting but not worth the price. If you can get coupons or a discount, maybe.

We rented a car & went to the Miami zoo. I really enjoyed that. The trunk of the rental car was the best place to keep the luggage.
