iowagirl411 Posted August 26, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2005 We had Aswin on Celebrity's Century. Although we didn't really "need" a butler and only made had few special requests it was a memorable experience. He was always pleasant and attentive. My morning coffee was always on time. It was just like the Celebrity commercials. It might not be for everyone and we may never try it again, but it was fun. I would maybe suggest that a honeymoon couple might not like the interuptions of fresh fruit deliveries, mid-afternoon snacks, afternoon tea and before dinner appetizers, etc. If one doesn't want interruptions then one could just tell the butler to stay away, so there would be no point in having him. cali-croozer Posted August 26, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2005 There was a recent review of 3 cabins on a Radisson ship, one of which was a suite with butler service on the show "Travel Spies" on the Travel Channel. As these show are rerun quite a bit, you might want to check out their website and see if it's going to be shown again soon. The bottom line for the travel spies was that it wasn't worth the extra $3,000 (in their case, that was the difference between a suite without butler service and one with) to have the butler service. Although the butler did everything asked of him, the service, at times was slow...........up to 40 minutes to deliver snacks and drinks that you could just go up on deck and get yourself in 5. Interesting show if you can find it.
SANDY BEACH Posted August 26, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2005 If you do not want to be disturbed just put the do not disturbe sign on your door when you are in your cabin. No surprises then.
shoalhaven Posted August 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2005 To overcome these minor annoyances, why not just bring your own butler with you? Have a great cruise.

Marie51 Posted September 1, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 1, 2005 We had a wonderful butler on the Mercury last year named Keith. He was always very attentive and professional. It was a special treat I paid for once but probably would not again unless I win the lottery.
