UBP logistical question

I just recently booked a Bermuda cruise for 10/2015 with the UBP, and am curious how exactly it works, and searching didn't get me a clear answer. I'm guessing it is somehow indicated on your card that you have the UBP? And then when you order a drink, are you signing for it still, or do they just bring it and not have you sign anything? If you have to sign, are you signing a receipt for the amount the drink would normally cost, or a $0 receipt? I know the UBP includes gratuities, but is there a way to tip extra and charge it to the room? Thanks in advance for taking the time to clarify for me!

From what I've read here, it depends on the ship because the charges should be tagged with UBP tag on POS.

 

With ships that have interactive TV systems all charges can be seen on the TV but if you ask for an account printout from the Guest Services, it probably should not show them at all as the billing system can filter the tagged charges out.

Incorrect. Ships that have the interactive TV Systems (like Getaway) will not show any drink purchases that are under the UBP. If you purchase something not covered by the UBP (for example a bottle of wine or a glass of wine through the wine vending machines) those will show up, but drinks that are covered through the UBP will not.

This brings up another question... with these new promotions, once we get on the ship (we are in a suite if that matters) how/where do we get our sticker(s) for the UBP and the UDP? Will they already be on our keycards we get from the concierge?

I'm going based on what my Amenity Invoice shows for my ALLIN package I have on my upcoming Escape TA so I'm giving you and educated guess at this point.

 

My amenity invoice shows that I have the UBP and UDP but shows a cost of 0.00 (my actual confirmation shows the ALLIN promo code...yours should show the promo code applicable to your free UBP and UDP). Therefore, you should have the stickers already applied to your card when you check in for your cruise. If not, having a printed out copy of your final invoice showing the promo codes and your amenity invoice showing that you are supposed to get both packages should suffice (After they call Miami to figure out what the promo codes mean). I would do this on the ship as the port staff probably won't have a clue as to what you are talking about vs NCL staff on the ship.

Awesome... I'll look for the stickers when the concierge hands us our keycards... :) The suite passenger keycards are handed out by the concierge or assistant concierge in the VIP lounge usually...

Boarding Getaway for a Haven suite last April we saw concierge (or any other ship employee dealing with suite guests) first time only after getting onboard. Cards were handed to us and we were escorted to the end of the gangway by the port side employees handling Haven check-ins in the terminal. Also even with UDP and UBP as booking perks on that cruise, we only had UDP sticker on the keycards and had to ask UBP stickers from the Haven bar.

The Promo Code for the current FREE UBP is CHOB for the Beverage Package.

For the On Board Credit it is CHOO and Dining Package is CHOD.

With the UBP, does it already include a tip, or are we expected to add a tip onto every drink we purchase?

Will the wine tasting classes also be covered under the UBP?

I know that wine under $10 a glass is covered.

I'm confused. We just booked for June 2016. We aren't in a suite so we were told by our TA we could have UBP, UDP or $200 OBC with the current promo.

 

We aren't big drinkers, we like to bring our own wine. It seems the UBP is much more costly for NCL as a free promo? What about the people drinking heavy all day, x's 2. Isn't that worth about $800 for the package.

 

And if you had 4 adults in the room, do they all get the UBP?

 

At least the double occupancy guests both get it free, right? Do the other two have to pay?

 

I've been looking all over trying to figure it out. I wonder if I should change to the UBP and drink a lot and feel I'm getting a better deal?? Greedy? And sick...

 

We usually only have a bar bill of about $150 and that includes a lot of cappuccinos, which aren't included in package.

 

I guess I'm happy with OBC. Just interested in hearing from others.

Only the first two occupants of the cabin get the promotional UBP. The other two get the soda package. If the other two want the UBP they can buy it.

 

It doesn't sound like you drink enough to make the UBP your best choice. Take the UDP if you are interested in specialty dining every night, or take the $200 OBC. (If you have 4 people in your cabin, I think the UDP for all 4 would be the best deal by far, again if none of you are big drinkers.)

The UBP is "worth" about $800 if you are buying the package. But, if you normally only spend about $150 on booze, unless you really put your drinking habits into major overdrive, the most you are going to save is about $150. You are probably better off with either the OBC or the specialty dining package, which I think may cover all in the cabin.

If there are 4 of you in the room I would thing the UDP would be a great way to go as it is $119 pp. vs $50 each in OBC. If there are just 2 of you then it would be more a matter how much you enjoy the specialty restaurants.
