Biffer1997 Posted January 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2015 It turns out one of the ladies I work with will be vacationing on St Lucia when we dock there. I have booked Spencer's tour but the lady gets terrible sea sickness so no boat rides. Having never been to St. Lucia, is it possible for them to meet us at the port and we explore island on own? Is rental car a possibility or best to be avoided? What are some sights that are "must dos"? Thanks!
Biffer1997 Posted January 11, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted January 11, 2015 Also, are there any tours that we could book that would not include boat rides? Thanks!
reedprincess Posted January 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2015 For a tine-constrained one day visit, renting a car and attempting to tour the island on your own is not a great idea. The roads are mountains, winding and quite narrow, lots of sights are either not marked or poorly marked, traffic can be bad around the city, etc. Better to either hire a car/driver to customize a trip so you all can enjoy it, or take an organized tour. Lots of options that don't include boats. Check out Cosol, James Touring, Serenity TVL, Barefoot Holidays, real St Lucia Tours, etc. to organize a trip without boats. chickadee1 Posted January 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) I also would not recommend self-tour. As our driver mentioned all the time, the bottom of the canyons is where they find all the tourists! Long way down!
