I love my margeritta on the rocks with salt....however, the last cruise the margerittas just didn't taste right. No matter what bar I went to just had a ick/dishwater taste... Any recommendations... any special margerittas to ask for.. we typically hang out at the Aft bar on the lido deck..

Thanks for any suggestion......

My last few cruises, the margaritas on the rocks were best at the Red Frog Rum Bar on Lido. Ironic you say since you would think that the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar would make the best margaritas? I'd think so too but the Blue Iguana Bar never seems to be open to find out......

Hi -

I too love a good Margarita - and have yet to find a decent one on any of the ships I've been on,

Don't know if its the sour mix they are using - or skipping triple sec - or what.

The best trick I've found to make it tolerable - is to ask for a splash of orange juice.

You'd think on a cruise to Mexico they could figure it out - but so far no luck for me - on any line - on any ship.

Margarita is the correct spelling. 😊

 childish

ANYWAY..... To OP, I love me a good margarita. When I go to my local Applebee's I won't order just a regular; it has to be a perfect margarita. Yum! If you cruise to a margaritaville, try their perfect. So far Las Vegas has the best. Waikiki is a close second. :D. I think the secret is to not order bottom of the line, pay extra wherever you go and get good mixer and top shelf tequila.

If you're going to be on a ship that has an Alchemy Bar, the Fiery Tropical Passion Martini looks very good. Milagro Silver Tequila, Patron Citronage, spicy mango puree and fresh citrus. For an extra buck, you can upgrade the tequila. At 9.95, the upgraded version still qualifies under Cheers.

I really like spicy margarita's, where they add Jalapeno infused tequila and fresh cut jalapeno's thrown in. I wonder if I can get one on board now??...I will have to ask. Here in Dallas there is a place that makes one with a little splash of pineapple juice and they line the glass with chili salt. Sooooo good! :D

The problem is that you ordered a "margeritta". That sounds like an angry drink :). You should have ordered a margarita. On Carnival, my favorite is the "Classic Margarita". It is made with Cuervo 1800, Cointreau, and a splash of mix. You can get it any bar, but just watch to make sure that they use the right ingredients. Sometimes if they don't have the 1800 they will move down rather than up and you will end up with Margaritaville Tequila, or tripple sec rather than Cointreau.

The other nice thing is that if you take your receipt from any of the 6 "classic" drinks to the casino cage they will give you a $5.00 companion card to use at table games with a $5.00 bet.

Just be careful with the Classic Margarita. They are strong. If you drink too many out on in the hot sun, a little man with a big sledge hammer will come running up and hit you right between the eyes. Down for the count. :):p

Any time I order a margeritta, it tastes like olive oil, garlic, basil and tomatoes. Or is it when I order a margherita? :D

Seriously, I think that the secret is to request a better tequila, rather than the bottom shelf crap that is probably responsible for the dishwasher taste.

I agree. They can't seem to get it right....even with top shelf Tequila. There is something about the mix. I had a bartender try a couple different times. YUCK. Get off the boat in Cozumel, walk to the end of the dock, and get a GOOD DRINK.
