Norwegian Gem departing New York in the sunset

Earlier this month I was visiting New York and had the pleasure of seeing Norwegian Gem as she departed the city. I was able to take a few nice photos, which are now up on my blog (usually featuring the cruise ships in Bergen):

Glad you liked them :) I'd love to sail from New York again. We took QM2 back to Southampton after our stay in New York and the sail away was lovely, even though it was dark, wet and foggy!

For those of you, unfamiliar with these great webcams, I am posting the links here

The first one shows the Manhattan Terminal from a restaurant on a pier in Weehawken, NJ. The second one shows a harbor view from a B&B in Staten Island, NY. The second ones sound plays the marine radio traffic channel, where you can monitor the ship's pilot. Both camera's are usually 'live' during sailaway, and scan along with the ship, sometimes zooming in.

By scanning them, you can do a virtual observation of all NCL sailaways from NYC. You can also watch them arrive, although only briefly, as the camera is usually just fixed during that very early hour...you can use the AIS to get an idea of when the ship will come into view....
