CaribCruiser54 Posted January 20, 2015 #26 Share Posted January 20, 2015 Would vote for no announcements except ant related to safety/security. Anything else in the Cruise Compass and/or RCI TV.
Exuma Girl Posted January 20, 2015 #27 Share Posted January 20, 2015 I like the announcements from the capt. especially on TA Cruises. Could do without the activities announcements but they dont bother me.
Hawkcigar Posted January 20, 2015 #28 Share Posted January 20, 2015 No announcements is missing from the choices. That would be my choice as I can never understand what they are saying anyway. It just amounts to noise. Agree.
EMBFlyer Posted January 21, 2015 #29 Share Posted January 21, 2015 For those that want to keep the Captain's noon, arrival and departure announcements at a minimum, don't just post here and answer a poll question! E-mail, write, Facebook, Tweet, etc Royal Caribbean and let them know that you don't agree with this policy! Just posting about here will do nothing to change it! jkrislc Posted January 21, 2015 #30 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I appreciated not having any unnecessary announcements on the Jewel early this month. We hadn't actually noticed until someone pointed it out as they were complaining that the passengers have a right to be informed about their cruise by the captain. I, however, enjoyed the quiet and knew where to get any of the information if I needed it.

Proudmom1120 Posted January 26, 2015 #33 Share Posted January 26, 2015 I did not put No Announcements as an option because, frankly, I was trying to be realistic! :D You should put 'No Announcements' as an option because it is extremely realistic and right now it is one sided. As I said in the past, Royal claims to be autistic friendly. I have a daughter with autism so I have studied about this for many years and lived with it. It makes me sad that so many people are that selfish that they need to have the convenience of an announcement when they could see everything in writing. These announcements cause pain to people with sensory issues. They have a hard time every day of their lives. Can't we try and make it a little easier for them? HesterMofet Posted January 26, 2015 Author #34 Share Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) I have never come on here and seen people beotching about a poll before. Go ahead and do your own! Dang! BTW, I do not believe I can amend it. If you know how, please let me know. Edited January 26, 2015 by HesterMofet

I am curious about what other things bother your daughter on a cruise. I would think just walking through the casino area would be a nightmare. Sometimes it is overwhelming for me, so I cannot imagine her processing it well. I know other kids who would be totally overwhelmed by the pool and the main dining room as well. jules815 Posted January 27, 2015 #37 Share Posted January 27, 2015 This. I find that the Captain and Cruise Director announcements can help set a tone for the cruise. The other stuff just feels like advertising. It also means no more "Bing Bong". :( Absolutely agree. I just realized I don't remember hearing any Captain's announcements on my Brilliance cruise last week. Those I enjoy hearing; and maybe one from the CD. I do remember hearing an announcement and running to open my door, and then missing it completely.

I know other kids who would be totally overwhelmed by the pool and the main dining room as well. The first time I took her on a cruise she wouldn't leave the room. We ordered room service. I know a lot of people would think I shouldn't of taken her on a cruise, but if I don't expose her to stuff, she will never get over her fears. The second time she went on a cruise, she was a little better. She kept to herself. Didn't want to join the kids activities. Autism is a broad spectrum. My daughter is high functioning so it is not too bad for her.

I run into trouble when say I'm in the Windjammer and everyone is talking over the top of each other ... feels like my brain wants to explode or I feel like yelling "Shut up!!" (not that I ever would  ) How old is your daughter?
