I just got back off the Fantasy and decided to do my first review. This was a winter cruise with my DW.

Park and Cruise - We booked a park and cruise at the Holiday Inn in Mount Plessant. We got the room for 119.00 and it included the shuttle over to the port and back. We also received breakfast the day of the cruise. Everything in this package was great. The shuttle took us over at 11 and was there to pick us up as soon as we got off of the ship.

Embarkment- we got to the port at 11:20 and was on the ship well before noon. The lines were short and moved fast. One hint, if you get shuttled to the port please remember to tip the baggage handlers. The people with us did not tip and I was afraid that we may never see our luggage again. Luckily we did.

Day One- this was our tenth cruise so we were not in a hurry to do anything. We headed to the buffet to get something to eat. The buffet was not very good. The food was luke warm and not real tasty. This was the only time that I ate at the buffet. The rest of the food (deli, pizza, main dining room) was very good. We were able to get into our room by 12:30. We were on the empress deck with an ocean view. Our luggage was there well before the muster drill. During the muster drill we had to go outside and it was cold with a little rain. On previous cruises we would not have to go out with weather like this but we heard that this Captain is very strict. That is ok with me. At one time during the cruise the Captain came over the loud speaker and basically told the parents that they needed to stop the small children from running around the ship. I again liked this because some parents do not control their kids. The rest of the day was spend wondering around the ship and meeting new friends. The BIG WOW comes latter in the week. I will continue later.

Day Two - this was a sea day for us. We got up and had breakfast on the lido deck. Word of advice they do the omelettes at the grill outside. Breakfast was ok but the best one that we had was in the dining room on the last day. This was actually a brunch. Our next cruise we will definitely each breakfast in the dining room more often. I grabbed a quick workout in the spa and we spend most of the day on lido watching the hairy chest contest and other activities. This was a good day, make sure that you go and watch these events and take part in them if you so desire, and with a few drinks many desire to. At night we went to see the comedy show. I ended up going to about 4 or 5 of these shows during the week. The comedians were very funny. The first one we went to my DW said that we went to college with the comedian. At the end of the show the comedians will stay around and talk with the audience. We did go to college with the comedian. It was really neat to talk to him and get an inside scoop on what it was like to be a comedian on the ship. If you have any questions about this trip or the ship please ask and I will try an answer. Oh and by the way I am two days from my big WOW and it is something that has only happened on this ship twice in 26 years to my knowledge.

We had the same experience with the barely warm food on the buffet a few years ago. Apparently, nothing has changed. Like you, we ate pizza, deli and grill for lunch. There were plenty of choices at the breakfast buffet for it to be acceptable. I won't say we will never sail the Fantasy again, but I hope Charleston gets a new ship.....soon.

Day Three - This was a port day in Nassau. As I said earlier this is our tenth cruise and I think we have been to Nassau eight times. I have told many people that if we cruised to Alaska that they would take me to Nassau first. We have done many excursions so today we decided to just walk around. The first place that we visited was the straw market. The people selling there seemed to be a little more pushy than normal. We walked around the corner and stoped by McDonald's for an ice tea. Thats the southern part of us. We decided to walk to the public beach (Junkanoo Beach). After getting to the beach we decided to spend the day. We stopped at the tiki bikini hut and rented two chairs and an umbrella. Along with the umbrella and chairs we were given 4 beers and four shots all for only thirty dollars. They treated us great all day long. George waited on us all day long and I told his boss that he did a great job. I told him that I told his boss and he said that was worth more than a tip to him. My suggestion to you is to let people know when they do a great job it means a lot to them. I ordered a coconut drink and they gave me an extra drink to go with it. This was a very good day at the beach. Later that night I went and watched one of the shows (Motor city). It was ok. I also caught another comedian show. I'm going to take a break and get a snack and in a little bit I will share day four and it includes the big WOW.

Day Four - This day was suppose to be spent on Little Stirrup Cay. I headed to the main lounge to get a number for the tender. By the time I got there I was number 10 for the tenders. A word for the wise, if you want to get to the island quick make sure you go to the lounge early to get your tender number.

After waiting for five to ten minutes they called for tenders 6 and 7. This would be the last tenders that they would call for the day. We sat for about an hour or longer and they tried to keep us entertained but had to call off the tenders after the waves got to big. I went to the top deck and watched as they tendered people back from the island.

After this I wondered around for a while and stopped by the casino. I decided that I was going to play some so I went to the room to get some cash. I didn't use my sail and sign card because they charge three percent when you use it. After getting the cash I headed back to the casino to play Let It Ride.

The first hand I played I lost. And then the second hand was dealt. I received a ten, jack and ace of spades. I pulled back my first bet. The first community card turned over was the queen of spades. At this time I'm thinking I have a good shot at a flush draw. I let my second bet ride and then the final community card was turned over. WOW, it was the KING OF SPADES, I had just hit a ROYAL FLUSH.

It took about twenty minutes for it to become official and then I could celebrate. I looked up the odds of this happening and they are 1 in 650,000. WOW. Needless to say the rest of the evening was spent with a smile on my face.

I will finish the review a little later.

That's awesome! Definitely made it worth missing Little Stirrup Cay!

Day Five - Final sea day. Started off the morning with breakfast in the dining room. The food was excellent. We have decided on the next cruise we will definitely do more breakfasts in the dining room.

Next we went to listen to the lecture about the ships and ports that was carnival was using. No big surprises.

At one o'clock I had to meet the Captain in the casino for pictures. The casino staff was great and made this experience even more enjoyable. The picture consisted of my wife, the captain, hotel manager, casino head and assistant, cruise director and a couple of others. I returned in a couple of hours to pick up the photo.

Later that evening we attended the past guest party. This time only gold, platinum and diamond members were invited. It is always fun to cheer for the ships that you have cruised on. There wer petty of drinks and apps.

After dinner we attened the love game. This is a fun event to watch. It is for adults only.

We choose to self embark. This was a fairly easy process. We were at the shuttle by 8:30 and back to the hotel before 9:00.

Final thoughts - this was our third time on the Fantasy. We love the ship because the staff is very friendly and take pride in their ship. It is always clean and very inviting.

Any questions??
