JohninDC Posted January 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2015 1. Is the water near the shore nice soft sand, rocky, full of plants???? Nice sandy bottom; if currents are pushing seaweed here it will be the same at all of the beach clubs on that side of the island2. Are the life jackets included in the entrance fee? Yes 3. Can you use a floaty or paddle boat or something to get out to the obstacle course? If you can't swim well enough to get out there without a floaty, maybe you should not be out there?
mom_n_mi Posted January 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2015 There was a lot of rocks in the water....yes, there is sand, but still a lot of rocks. It is a good swim. My 5 year old made it with some help.
ABQrobin Posted January 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2015 they aren't really "rocks", they are dead coral. Yes, anywhere on the island you will find them because the entire island is an old coral reef that was once underwater but is not now. It is called ironshore. I thought it might be nice to head out with the younger two in the boat thing to watch and be close to the older two while they do it.
Susie51 Posted January 24, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2015 We were there in December and everyone including adults had to wear life jackets which are included in the fee. As you approach the beach, they were on the left. I wore my water sandals which have athletic soles with plenty of cushion, so the coral didn't bother me.
