Tahiti hands down. Caribbean is a great cruise though. The beauty of Tahiti is awesome!! Find the thread where someone asks about Tahiti or Mexican Riviera. Everyone will tell you about Tahiti. We want to keep going back, we can't get enough of it.:D

It's not a simple question - it is an apples to oranges comparison. Both are tropical, but the experiences will be totally different. One is another culture, the other American tourister. The southern Caribbean is beautiful, there's good snorkeling and some interesting history. Tahiti is closer to paradise, but at least twelve hours away and less 'English friendly'. We felt a cruise was a great way to see Tahiti - going to one of the resorts with Over Water Bungalows constrains you to one island, and costs more. Polynesia is a part of the world that was separated from the rest for centuries, until the 18th century. As such, it has anthropological differences that are fun to learn about, and an important part of world history. So, of course, is the history of the Caribbean, but it's already part of our history, so it's not nearly as exotic, and a Caribbean vacation is more beaches and sightseeing than learning that history. If you have the time and interest - visit Polynesia, and I'd recommend a cruise as a good way to do that. On our cruise, we had Raiatea families entertaining, Tahatian women who provided both entertainment and a chance to learn the culture [like Tahatian lessons], enrichment lectures on Tahatian culture, anthropology and 'What really happende when the Bounty came to Tahiti'. All were interesting and enlightening.

if you can afford the time, I would go with Tahiti. we have been to the carib. 4 times, and Tahiti twice with #3 in the works. It will spoil you though, the beauty is awesome. Cruising will give you lots more bang for the buck, it is very expensive to stay onshore for more than a few nights.

Thanks so much for all the replies! Is Febuary and March is a good time to go Tahiti?

Anytime is a good time to go to Tahiti!! :D

The months of July, August, and September are generally not as hot and don't have as much rain and humidity.
