HAL vs Princess?

I agree. Coral Princess is the perfect ship for Alaska. I also find the food and dining options to be superior on Princess compared to HAL.

 

Not sure how you can judge, since you've only taken two HAL cruises; one in 1997 and the other in 2012. I OTOH, completed another HAL cruise last month, having been away from them since 2001. Since I've cruised Princess 75 times, I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy Holland over Princess this time. In all respects.

 

I do agree that Coral though is perfect for Alaska.

Princess does not allow smoking in cabins or most of the ship. HAL does...

This is not correct ... HAL banned in-cabin smoking a couple of years ago, but continues to permit balcony smoking, which Princess does not. On HAL the same $250 cleaning fee assessed by Princess applies for those peeps who do smoke in-cabin.

Holy Cow! I had no idea. To me, this is an excellent reason to avoid HAL like the plague. I don't want a room that stinks of someone else's smoke nor do I want to be driven from my balcony by the smoke billowing from neighboring balconies.

Note my comnents to rayandshirt ... the HAL balcony still may be problematic, tho the cabin should not.
