Medical trip insurance

Recommended Posts

We strongly suggest you call Steve and his crew at

TripInsuranceStore.com

But TALK with them, do not just read the policy summaries on the website.

Those do not show what could be VERY important "fine print".

Explain exactly what coverage you already have and/or need, etc.

Our first travel insurance policy was with TravelInsured, at Steve's suggestion.

We ended up with a last minute medical emergency and a completely cancelled (expensive) trip.

We got our money back without lots of delays/struggles, and *that* is what matters in the long run.

EDIT to add: There have been some really unfortunate experiences mentioned here on CC. Steve doesn't sell policies from most of the insurers who tend to be mentioned in those situations.

Also ask about the separate coverage from MedJetAssist.

This is a highly specialized medevac:

- You must be already admitted as an inpatient (emergency room care does not count without subsequent inpatient admission).

At that point, you can decide to have MedJetAssist have you medically evacuated to --> the hospital of YOUR CHOICE in your home county (in your home city or elsewhere).

You get to avoid the need to have the local medical team declare themselves unsatisfactory for your medical needs, and you get to avoid having an insurance beancounter "sign off" on the medical need, too.

It operates (for US citizens, at the least), as long as you are at least 150 miles from home, so it's also good for those regular business trips or visits to family.

There is a short term or annual subscription.

Well worth at least considering.

Like GeezerCouple, we purchase our insurance from Steve at tripinsurancestore.com and also get the MedJet Assist. We always talk to Steve or one of his knowledgeable agents before each cruise to see what they recommend for our situation at that time. They are more then willing to spend as much time as needed to help you get the best coverage for you and your circumstances.:)
