cmmdem4263 Posted February 26, 2015 #26 Share Posted February 26, 2015 The casino is the only indoor spot to smoke. What did everyone think was going to happen when they stopped smoking in cabins and on balconies? You are exactly right!! What I find ironic from reading all the threads on the smoking issues is the people that complained about smoking on the balconies are the same people that complain how smoky the casino is - or how many smokers are on the smoking area decks and they have to walk through the smoke and how the ship was never this smoky, blah, blah, blah. I am a smoker & I can tell you right now that if I could still smoke on my balcony that would be where I would spend most of my time smoking. But the complainers got that taken away - yet they still complain.
serene56 Posted February 26, 2015 #27 Share Posted February 26, 2015 The casino is the only indoor spot to smoke. What did everyone think was going to happen when they stopped smoking in cabins and on balconies? That is so not true. On deck 5 youhave the casino. you have the Red Carpet Dance club (Only if the carnival camp is not using it or its closed for private functions. and the cool lounge. on deck 10 aft that smoking area across the back is all covered. On the side it is not. (but there is nice umbrellas and chairs located there
Rebels82 Posted February 26, 2015 Author #28 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Thanks for all your replys. I was the one that asked the original question and went on the Splendor a few weeks ago. Some casinos have non smoking table games (not slots). The Splendor does not. It did have some non smoking slots which had the non smoking label on them. golfb4cruzing Posted February 26, 2015 #29 Share Posted February 26, 2015 They are not going to ban smoking in the Casino they would lose too much money. People with bad habits have more than one and they want us to gamble and drink. I am also curious whether they have lost money by banning smoking on balconies? People who used to get balconies to smoke can and do book insides now. As for wearing nightclothes and coming to smoke in the casino.....that surprises me, but I wouldn't be surprised to see people up on the deck getting coffee and a cigarette before getting dressed. I wouldn't do it, but I know others would. Many cruise lines do not allow smoking in the casinos. Just like bars stateside now. Princess has 2 smokefree nights in the casino and business was brisk. Wasn't a chair at any slot machine. It was great.
BritYank94 Posted February 27, 2015 #30 Share Posted February 27, 2015 We haven't cruised on Carnival since 05/2012. Does Carnival still allow smoking on one side of the lido deck?? Thank You.
kendracruises Posted February 27, 2015 #31 Share Posted February 27, 2015 One of the reasons the casino does not really have a smoke free area/tables is that it is such a small tiny area and smoke is sure to drift all over. Larger casino's that have smoke free areas often have seperate rooms dedicated to smoke free. People will continue to smoke in any available areas designated as smoking and remember when cruise lines tried the smoke free ships that was quickly scrapped. No, they did away with it a year or two ago. Now the smoking areas are all away from the pool, at least on the ships I've been on. Someone can correct me if they've been on a ship that still has smoking on Lido.
princessa Posted February 27, 2015 #33 Share Posted February 27, 2015 Was on the Splendor recently and had a fabulous time. The only thing that was bad was the smoking at the casino. This is the only cruise that I did not gamble on because I could not breathe. I really think they need a better ventilation system.
jp30338 Posted February 27, 2015 #34 Share Posted February 27, 2015 To those that dont like smoke in the casino, why not book on Celebrity? Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside their ships. Just a thought..
BritYank94 Posted February 27, 2015 #35 Share Posted February 27, 2015 Yes, I know smoking is not good for me, might kill me. I am not stupid, I know the risks. I know the smoke offends other people and the smoke is not good for them either. We all die from something. Seeing people over indulging at the Buffet on the Lido deck is just as disgusting as smoking but no one would dare say over eaters need their own table section. Just saying..... Out to sea! Posted February 27, 2015 #44 Share Posted February 27, 2015 Celebrity is a smoke free cruise line and is doing very well. Why tell blatant lies? Their ships are designated non-smoking (inside of the ship) yet they allow smoking on board in outdoor venues. It is NOT smoke free. http://www.celebritycruises.com/frequently-asked-questions#internationalSailings Q. What is the onboard smoking policy? A.For your comfort and enjoyment, our ships are designated as non-smoking; however, we recognize that some of our guests smoke. Therefore, cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the ship. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator, or corridor. This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom, nor on any stateroom veranda. If you are in violation of this policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to your SeaPass® account and you may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard. Additionally, there is a non-smoking policy on all components of the land tour portion of all Celebrity Cruises Cruisetour products. We appreciate your understanding and adherence. kendracruises Posted February 27, 2015 #46 Share Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) I have sailed on Celebrity Eclipse and they are NOT smoke free. You can smoke outside on the port side of the pool deck(they have a set up area) and outside on deck 5. You could not however smoke inside the casino. There is no cruise line I know of that is completely smoke free. I don't smoke but hubby does and I just go with the flow. If the smoke is bad in an area I am I just move somewhere else on the ship, plenty of places to relax. DONNAKG Posted April 13, 2015 #49 Share Posted April 13, 2015 We sailed on the Splendor many years ago out of Long Beach. It was a really fun ship. I think there was a cigar bar with huge leather seating. Robusto was it called?? Do they still allow smoking in it? And we just got off the Dream. I was a bit disappointed as they advertise a splash park but really just 2 wee size slides. WE had 6 grandbabies with us. What does the splash park on the Splendor include? thanks Donnakg
