Best shopping for Baltic Cruise

Recommended Posts

We are sailing on the Grand Princess out of Copenhagen, then Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg, Tallin, Gdansk, and Berlin. What are good soveniers? What part of town is best for good deals? Can you bargain in each port? Thanks

Here are some good resources for shopping in those cities. These two sites also contain a lot of very good information on cultural and historical attractions, as well as dining, language, transportation, currency, etc. I have printed out a lot of info from these sites to make kind of a little cruise guidebook for our trip.

Enjoy your trip!

Just a few thoughts to supplement the sites posted above:

Tallinn: A lot less expensive than Helsinki on most everything. We found good deals on sweaters and linens. Lots of little shops and street vendors.

Helsinki: Our favorite area was Market Square. Tons of vendors. Sweaters, jewelry and knick-knacks such as coasters and cutting boards, etc. Stockmann's department store (near the central train station) also was great - particularly if you wear European apparel such a Mephisto shoes. Helsinki is more expensive than Tallinn but there is more selection.

St. Petersburg: Many opportunities to buy traditional souvenirs like the nesting dolls outside of major tourist locations. Not the best place to shop, in my opinion.
