Luggage to Montserrat?

We will be disembarking in Barcelona and want to spend a few nights at the hotel in Montserrat. Will we be able to accommodate luggage (rolling duffle) on the cable car or should we plan to take the funicular up? Thanks.

We took the funicular and frankly I don't remember anyone with luggage. Not sure about taking luggage.

We saw no hotels up the mountain in Montserrat. Monserrat is a one day trip, so not sure why you want to stay overnight?

We will be going as a pilgrimage and staying at Hotel Abat Cisneros (only hotel next to the monastery). Do you think the funicular will accommodate luggage?
