We just booked our first cruise and we are excited about it!! :)

 

Alright cruisers,

 

Which is the best area to scuba/snorkel at?

 

- Labadee, Haiti

- San Juan, Puerto Rico

- Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

- Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Our experience with Labadee snorkeling is very poor. I'd go with St. Thomas or St. Maartin.

Snorkeling is fabulous on St John USVI. Take this as an excursion from St Thomas. I do not usually do ship sponsored excursions--but, the excursion to St John is the best way to get there and back. [it involves a ferry ride]

 

The US National Park in St John has an underwater snorkel trail. It is very nice.

I think some of the best snorkeling we've ever done was in St. Thomas. We did an excursion through the ship that took us over to Honeymoon Beach. Beautiful coral and lots of sea turtles!

I agree 100% with this. Do not bother snorkeling in Labadee or in San Juan. Taking a ferry to St. John from St. Thomas will be the best snorkeling you can do of your four stops.

In St Maartin we did Robinson's Speedboat tour. Google it for pics. It was amazing!! They take you in a tour around the island. You snorkel in 2-3 spots and they provide lunch. It was the best excursion I have ever taken!!!

Thank you for all the tips everyone!! I hope the places that we are about to sail to didn't get hit too bad by Hurricane Joaquin. I hope that everyone in the Bahamas is alright and I hope that they recover!

We did a private excursion, the 6 of us hired a sailboat in St. Thomas and we sailed to St. John for snorkeling and they served us lunch on the boat which was delicious and after the snorkeling we had rum punch. It was the best snorkeling experience that I ever had!

For scuba diving I vote for St. Martin...and yes, you may see a shark.
