Lady of the Lakes Posted September 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2005 I was thinking about the people who had their cars parked at the N.O. dock? Also those who would be going back to port? My heart goes out to all those affected by Katrina.

Krazy Kruizers Posted September 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2005 I mentioned something similar about this the other day on another board. I wondered how many people went on the Conquest having a wonderful time only to come back and learn that they have lost their cars and for some who may have lived in the devastated areas, their homes as well. wwinfl91 Posted September 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2005 Actually the port area sits on some of the higher ground in New Orleans and has NOT flooded. Neither has the French Quarter or the Riverwalk area. I don't know where cars are parked when you leave from a cruise in New Orleans but if it is in the Cruise port area or somewhere near the convention center the cars may still be there and may still be undamaged. But the bigger problem is how do you get back in to pick the cars up? Right now the only people being allowed in are the people providing support for the evacuations and news people. There is a way to drive in as many news people have mentioned but a regular citizen trying to get in to pick up their car after a cruise probably would not be allowed in. If someone who was on the Conquest happens to see this post I would be interested in what they are planning on doing? Good luck. Talk at you later.
