alliecatn1 Posted March 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Alrighty, after YEARS of trying we've finally convinced my husband's family to possibly forgo their usual Las Vegas vacation and try a cruise. If you were to pick one ship to try to impress them, which would you choose? Is it worth it to pick a ship with Guys/Blue Iguana/seaside theater/2.0s or just go on price and destination (what we usually do)? It will be us and our kids (1 and 2 so the kid activities don't matter much), BIL and SIL (early 20s), our parents (50s) and possibly our grandmas and we're planning on doing the Caribbean. Rock_ON!! Posted March 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) Try one of the newer ships. I heard the Breeze is nice. I prefer to pick cruises by the ports and the least number of sea days, not the ship. Decide what is most important to you, and maybe your lucky enough to find one that has both. Good luck! falkcor Posted March 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2015 i'd go for the breeze. if you just pick based on price / destination, the most attractive option might be a fantasy class ship for example... but if you're trying to 'impress them', that'd not be a good option. go for the 'best' since that's your motive. breeze is the biggest & bestest lol. it's the newest ship with the most to offer. BigRed93 Posted March 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Breeze was the ship it took to change my family's mind about Carnival. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
KPfromCT Posted March 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Another vote for Breeze!:D:D It will most definitely impress. Has all of the bells and whistles you could want, except for the Alchemy Bar and JiJi's. Everyone will love it. Keep us posted on your decision. alliecatn1 Posted March 2, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted March 2, 2015 The breeze is what we've had our eye on for sure! So you think it's worth the extra $125 pp instead of doing the Glory or Splendor?
seventysixracing Posted March 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Definitely focus on destinations, something that gives you enough bang for your buck...which means focus on a cruise that would be doable for not only yourselves, but something similar in price for your parents. Although I've never been on the Breeze, I would be careful about the most "popular" ships around times when there might be a lot of kids. If they tend to go to Vegas (normally a place without TOO many kids), I'd try to find a cruise that isn't going to be overrun with children if that might be an issue. The conquest class ships that have 2.0 are nice and have a lot to do as well!
Kel040 Posted March 2, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Another vote for the Breeze here... we loved it .. :) We cruise on the Pride next month, so my answer could change after that... :D

alliecatn1 Posted March 2, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Loved the Breeze! And the Triumph, the Valor, the Conquest, and the Fascination. Ok I'm a cruise whore. The He point is that a cruise is what you make of it. If someone loves Las Vegas I would probably research those ships with the best casinos, then look at the destinations. A true skeptic could go either way. Either they will hate it or love it! Bottom line is that we are all responsible for our own happiness. Hope no matter what you enjoy YOUR cruise. That's actually exactly what DH and I were talking about last night. You can give me a crappy ship and I'll love every second. You can give somebody else the best ship ever and they'll still hate it. It's all in their perspective. Their happiness isn't my job. A rainy day at sea is still better than a beautiful day at work! ha! DH has really wanted to do a big fancy ship and I've wanted to try Guys for a while so it's not just based on the others in our groups happiness. Looks like for our family it would be about $400 total more to do the Breeze but you guys all make it seem so awesome!

My DH' first cruise was the Breeze and I was so excited to introduce him to the joys of cruising. He said it was "okay ". He is more of a homebody than I am and that's okay. As long as he doesn't care if I go. DD and I all set for the Splendor in 20 days. Will I miss him? Heck yeah. But that doesn't keep me from going. Love that man. BigRed93 Posted March 2, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Glory is a nice ship as well, and has some of the 2.0 upgrades. It's another good choice Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

trixiegal Posted March 4, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 4, 2015 Go on the Breeze and try to get a balcony cabin if you can. We snagged a Lido cabin for less than $450 pp for 6 days on the 4th of July cruise last year. Are you booking Early Saver? Prices were so low when I booked 3 weeks before the cruise, so you'd probably have some price drops.

falkcor Posted March 4, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 4, 2015 Any Royal Caribbean or Princess ship. that's totally not helpful, and entirely off topic as posted on the carnival board. further, it is misleading, given the lesser ships of both cruise lines mentioned, which are not those of which the question was posted in. tsk tsk :p
jolyroger Posted March 4, 2015 #20 Share Posted March 4, 2015 Ill agree with the Breeze as well! It converted my brother inlaw who said he'd never cruise, never had any desire...his wife had booked a cruise with us, the person she was going with backed out..so my brother inlaw put it out there that he didn't want to go , but if his wife couldn't find anyone he'd go..(yeah she didn't make a point of looking for anyone, lol) long story short, we're doing a big family cruise next month, and it will be my brother inlaws 3rd cruise....So yes go with Breeze, all the bells and whistles and its a gorgeous ship!
