Thank you Cruise Critic Members

If not for you, I would not have realized that there are affordable suites on certain ships. I am joining the suite life Nov. 2016 on the Star in a Family Suite.

I am super excited about all the suite benefits. I am canceling my Escape for this cruise. I have never been on the Star's itinerary so that is a plus. First time to Belize, Roatan and Costa Maya.

So, other than Cagney's for breakfast and lunch, what other suite benefits should I expect?

Thanks again all!!!!!

Butler and concierge. Priority embarkation and disemabarkation. If you get to the terminal before they'd start boarding, they have a seperate area for suite guests where you can sit and have snacks before being escorted onboard, and if your room is ready, directly to your room. Priority tendering tickets and priority disembarkation at ports. On older ships, they have "VIP" seating in the balconies, and I believe they also have reserved seating on the newer ships as well. You get snacks delivered to your room every afternoon ( which we loved because we were always a little hungry returning from port lol). I think there's more, but that's all I can think of right now. Hope this helps :D

Since Star is currently on drydock and Moderno moving to deck 13, it's a possibility that VIP/suite breakfast/lunch will be served there - it's just across the hall. The venue where the breakfast/lunch is served doesn't matter, the menu has nothing to do with the venue's dinner menu anyway.

I was looking at that ship and the family suite, but once I saw it has no balcony, i changed my mine. I really enjoy and use the balcony.

We (me & DW) were worried about that too, but our worries were completely unfounded - the floor-to-ceiling windows were great and sun deck on deck 12 and outdoor areas on deck 13 were so conviniently close that we didn't miss the balcony at all.

Some of the best suite values come out of Tampa :). Enjoy! We are booked on Star next Feb in a suite.

Also, Port Canaveral is picking up Norwegian Spirit. Older ship = smaller ship and cheaper prices plus only 1.5 hours from moi. Heck, Tampa is not but

1.5 - 2 hours either. Living in Central Florida is convenient for getting to all the ports here in Florida....:)

There are 4 family suites on the Star that do have a balcony (SG). I was in one shortly after the remodel of deck 12 and it was really nice. The balcony is not the full width of the cabin, but plenty of room for the three of us.

Enjoy the Lavazza Coffee on demand, and inform your butler and steward on your preferences. Do our trick and order an early wake-up breakfast of Juice and fruit brought in early so you don't feel rushed to get to Cagney's so early. Then go have a leisurely late breakfast. Best meal on-board, imo. While in Costa Maya look up Maya Chan - best all inclusive beach paradise limited to 40 people a day. Search the Caribbean boards for plenty of info.:)

We will be on the POA in a Penthouse suite this April. I see the amenities list states bottled water and soda does that mean those that are in the mini fridge and they are complimentary?

Breakfast and lunch at Cagny's was THE perk for us. We had our butler deliver La cucina Pizza and Salads and Bread/Olive oil for dinner one night, he set the table up and it was all top notch.

You can ask your butler to bring breakfast to your suite but we never did, like going to the Cagny's

The handful of Family Suites with balconies are like this

No cover and viewable from above, someone would want to have to look but it can be done. The lack of shade seemed the bigger issue. Rain obviously but also sun could make them to hot to use.

No, that is a mistake on the site (I didn't notice that). Waters and sodas are complimentary only in those top-level suites that get also bottles of liquor. Lower lewel suites only get the champagne (or just sparkling wine?) and one bottle of water, everything in mini bar is extra.

Thats good news. Now I can look to book if I like the Sun next month living in their suite for a week.

Thank you for the menus from breakfast and lunch. This will be our first SJ suite on the Dawn in Jan 2017. It's a long time to wait, but this helps!
