I post on random things, that is my choice and I don't need to justify my posting habits. I was a long time lurker before finally posting and tend to limit my posts because of people like you. You have your opinion about smaller ships, which you are absolutely entitled to, but I don't share that opinion with you. Rather than be argumentative or tell you how you should feel or what you should do, I simply moved on past, allowing you to have your opinion, like I would anyone on the board.

You went off on quite a long rant about how you think/feel I should form opinions without knowing the answer to your question. For what it is worth, I have been on Quantum, so my opinion is not 'unfounded' or 'non factual'.

Also, just because I am not glued to Cruise Critic, does not mean I am not an experienced or high level cruiser. That is completely irrelevant to this and I don't feel the need to flaunt any kind of status to anyone. I appreciate most people on the boards for the information and kind experiences they share - it doesn't matter whether it is their first cruise or 1000th.

Well said and polite.

Spoke to Princess Cruise Line today. Their new PNW itineraries being announced on Monday. If your interested.

I apologize for the hurt I have caused you. I would like to re-word the post. I never wish to take anyone's opinions away.

Also well said!

And I commend you! (for what that is worth LOL)!

I appreciate that and will definitely keep an eye out. I'm a complete 'loyal royal' but will consider other things if I really have to. As I said before, I have other itineraries I want to do as well so may just plump for something 'easy' like a TA!

Finishing in Ensenada, if that is the case, doesn't worry me greatly (not a lot does!) but it's the stops enroute I'll be intrigued to see.. and then that pesky cost. With friends and family in San Francisco, the overnight is a real bonus as I don't get to see them as much as I like... they don't like cruising [emoji33] (Wait for it, they haven't tried it, that's just their opinion! [emoji6] )

We too are Very Loyal to Royal. But the prices and cutbacks in service, have us looking. We could stay Loyal and cruise less often or look elsewhere.

We worked way to hard for way to long to cruise less!!!!:D

Never hurts to look.

It is kind of surprising that RCI isn't doing more of the Pacific Northwest cruises considering how popular all the sailings for 2015 seem to be. We are booked on the 8 night, Vancouver to LA sailing. There are only inside cabins left to book, suites and balconies have been sold out for months, oceanviews only sold out recently, but the sailing isn't until September. Jewel isn't our favorite ship but we couldn't pass up the itinerary.

Maybe, once the Alaska sailings come out, there will be a few coastals released too.

I agree with you, absolutely. I'd have loved to do the ones this year, I hope you enjoy what you have booked, but couldn't make the timings work. I have seen how well selling they have been and genuinely thought they might do at least the same next year.

Given that Jewel was booked in LA next year, I wonder what made them decide to plow more into Europe instead - longer season and more lucrative no doubt.

This whole west coast thing for years has driven me crazy. We had Monarch here, they claimed people weren't buying enough. So they move it to Florida, put it on an itinerary that is in port every day, then have to discount the prices to try and fill the ship. I know of several trips out of Florida on Vision where D1 cabins had a 65% occupancy 2 weeks prior to sailing. They gave cabins away to a casino, and the people didn't come. We could have filled it up.

My Oct 3 cruise this year, a GS started at $2100 and went up almost $600 in a month. They have sold out for 6 months. But a GS out of San Juan at the end of October is $1749. It is pretty evident where the money really is, but they just don't see it.

We were abandoned by RCCL when Mariner was pulled, and that's why in the short time since it left, we are already Platinum on Princess. I'm not totally sure about 2016 yet, depends on what Jewel is going to do in Europe.

We would have loved to sail Mariner while it was out there but life got in the way and then the ship was gone.:( We sailed her twice from Port Canaveral and she is one of our favorites.

The timing for that ship was terrible with the flu that caused the revised itineraries and then the recession, but they really never gave that market a chance to recover. Hopefully, they will give it another chance in the future.

There was also another factor, that winter and spring they had the Radiance on 10-14 night trips out of LA. They just had too much capacity when the recession hit.

I am a bit disappointed with announcement of bring the Explorer up to Seattle for Alaska in 2016. I was planning to do the Canal that year on the Jewel assuming it was coming back...

I am booked on the Jewel Vancouver to LA and would have probably done another coastal the following year but I agree with the previous poster about not ending a cruise in Ensenada. With the Explorer unable to port in Vancouver, there are few options for getting the ship set up for fall coastals out of LA. We had issues when we once started a cruise in Ensenada I would not consider ending one there.

We were on Mariner three times while it was sailing out of LA. Really miss having any RC ship on the West Coast even for a few weeks. Booked on both Jewel CA Coastals now but will probably give up the first week (anyone looking for a JS for the 9/26 sailing, one may go up on the market soon). Will likely book Explorer when they release those itins near the end of March. So happy to have a Voyager class on the West Coast again. :D
