Family of 4 adults in Athens for 9 hrs ...want to see the major sites and the plaka for lunch / shopping. Not really kean on paying 230 euros for a taxi ride from site to site. I understand most within close proximity to each other ( right?) Are taxis readily available at the cruise port to take us to Athens and then can we flag a taxi down to take us back to the ship. Not interested in using subways/ busses... Any answers / advice ??

Yes, they are readily available, the problem may be fitting four full-size adult passengers into a single taxi.

Expect to pay around 20 euro from the port to the acropolis, depending on traffic and somewhat more for the return trip.
