MrJoeBlack Posted July 1, 2015 #53 Share Posted July 1, 2015 You don't get to pick and choose the types of responses that you get. Unfortunately there are still too many smoking areas on all of the ships, hopefully they will decrease the available areas again soon. Was that a serious response? The OP is trying to ensure those who smoke are in the correct areas as to not interfere with others, I find your response very unhelpful and a waist of time to read. Hopefully, they will decrease the number of whiny "I want everything my way and the heck with everyone else" posters. I don't smoke, but I'm certainly willing to be fair about sharing space. You might want to give tolerance a try.

vinnytman Posted July 13, 2015 #60 Share Posted July 13, 2015 She can vape and smoke on her private garden villa garden balcony When we inquired about the GV on the Jade, the NCL rep said it was only permitted in the garden area (with the hot tub) and the upper sun deck. No smoking off the 2 individual bedroom balconies.

No smoking off the 2 individual bedroom balconies. I know this is an old thread but it's a handy thread to keep active. Im guessing you did NOT see the word private balcony in my post. Who said anything about smoking in the bedrooms or inside for that matter. I'm said smoking is permitted on the private garden villa BALCONY which is referred to as the garden. We are booked in one next April :-) Geri

nyfltraveler Posted September 9, 2015 #64 Share Posted September 9, 2015 While I do not mean to stir up controversy, NCL should make all of its ships non-smoking.... Just like airlines, passenger trains, bus lines and many cities have done in restaurants, parks, etc...... Even with designated areas, many passengers ignore the designations and smoke wherever they want, even near the kids pool on the BA which is plain wrong.

Rare PATRLR Posted September 9, 2015 #66 Share Posted September 9, 2015 While underway, you can smoke occasionally on the balcony. No one cares unless there are multiple smokers or you are running like a chimney. Just shut your balcony door and stay behind the dividers. Of course, don't smoke while you neighbor next door (down wind) is out unless they are cool with it. I know that others have pointed out that smoking on balconies is against the rules. This post is directed to smokers who think that while underway you can smoke on your balcony and not bother anyone else. I assure you that is far from true. The airflow on balconies is not what you might think. While on the Dawn our neighbors were smoking a lot on their balcony. We experienced: Smoke smell in our balcony after they had left theirs. Long after they left (at least 15 minutes aft they'd left). To the point where I couldn't spend time out there. Smoke in our room if we happened to have our door open when they decided to smoke. I truly believe these folks were trying to be mindful of us much the way Bosox312 describes. I know a few times they came out on their balcony, knew we were on ours (because I'd make noise), and they did not lite up. But what they didn't realize (and I don't think Bosox312 and others realize) is that the smoke and smell lingers long after you put out your butt. With the utmost respect - this thread is asking where one can smoke. Do you honestly think that anyone cares that you want the ships to be non-smoking? Not on this thread! LOL As you had no information as to where one CAN smoke was there really a need to throw your 2 cents into this, which you knew WOULD stir up controversy. Want to talk about non smoking NCL ships...start your own thread....and I promise not to show up there and tell everyone that they should be able to smoke and where the CAN smoke. BTW, there are non-smoking cruise lines. Harriet Edited September 9, 2015 by hpecorari

Airlines, trains, buses, etc are confined spaces for relatively short duration. Totally different story making those non smoking. If there is someone smoking in an area they shouldn't than that is wrong but for you to suggest the whole cruise ship be non smoking just because you don't like it makes you sound entitled. jenseib Posted September 9, 2015 #71 Share Posted September 9, 2015 Anyone know where smoking is permitted on the Jewel? Most of deck 7 is smoking. You will see an ashtray on the wall where you are allowed to smoke. Deck 13 outside of Moderno is a smoking area. Deck 13 on the port side..forward of the pool area is a cubby area for smoking. Deck 12, port side had an area of tables with ashtrays.

If you want to have some fun go type in smoking in the search heading. This is one of the most hashed subjects from the past. Remember not every couple that sails together are non smokers. Some the DH smokes and DW does not and so on. Carnival had a ship that was smoke free. Ask them how that worked out. Every cruise was cut to the bone price wise to fill the ship. Every passenger has rights so try to remember that on your next cruise please. PS look for me in the Cigar bar 17 Oct on Getaway. Have a nice day.
