Cruise leaving from Rome or Athens what would be best?

We are going to book Europe for 2016. We can book either to leave from Rome or Athens we are going to book segments and add the TA at the end of the cruise. We are going to Rome for a few days before the cruise. We have never been to Rome everytime we have booked a cruise Rome gets cancelled.

 

How hard would it be to get to Athens from Rome and how would we do?

There are plenty of direct flights from FCO to ATH. Anywhere from $100 to $180 pp.

Use kayak or other travel sites. Also look directly at Alitalia and Aegean airlines.

It's a two-hour flight.
