ojaidenny Posted March 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Doing research on the Oct cruise into Quebec and am trying to find airfare. Which airport does the Princess shuttle take you to. Am hoping it is the Montreal airport as flights are much cheaper. What are the different ways to get from the ship to the airport? Princess might offer buses to Montreal, but by default the shuttle is obviously going to go to the Quebec City airport - it may be smaller, but it is still an international airport. Unless they specifically list a Montreal (YUL) transfer as an option, with a travel time of approx. 3 hours, expect to be going only to YQB. You could go by public transit, but pretty much everyone going straight to the airport from the pier is going to take a cab. Bus #78 goes right into the airport Mon-Fri, and you can connect to it downtown ($3.25pp, exact Canadian currency only), or a cab will take about 30mins and cost about $35 (no fixed fares TO the airport, just from). toberman Posted March 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2015 Via Rail has service from Quebec to Montreal. Time of travel is about 3 hours and prices are reasonable. No checked bags on this route though - you would have to slug your own. Probably need a taxi to train and from train to Montreal airport. There have been posts in the past by people who had flights out of Montreal and then discovered the rail had no space for them.
KruzPrincess Posted March 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 20, 2015 I was on a HAL cruise last year and there was a transfer from Montreal to Quebec City, but no one could make it because you had to arrive fairly early in the day. You should talk to Princess about transfers and see if they offer them and, if they do, what the latest flight time they'll accept. It is a 3 hour bus ride, so be careful with return transfers and making an international flight. Someone I talked to booked a private car from Montreal to QC and it cost $300, if I recall correctly. HAL transfers last year were $90.
J-D Posted March 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Unless you want to spend some time in Montreal en route, it is IMHO much less hassle to simply fly into or from Quebec City's YQB -- a moderate sized airport relatively close to the city. That might also give you some extra time in Quebec City, which has an abundance of interesting things to see and do. John
Quacker Posted March 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 20, 2015 We did a Princess Tour from Quebec City to Montreal. They dropped us off in Montreal for lunch and shopping - then picked us up - took us to the airport. Was a nice tour and we were able to get a direct flight to LAX for a good price. Saved money and didn't have to deal with two flights. Was very worth while. Don
