TNTKP Posted September 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2005 Am scheduled for a flight this november from SFO to Genoa, with a 4 1/2 hour lay-over in Paris at CDG airport. Is this long enoug to see anything close to the airport, or are we better off just to stay put in the airport?? Thanks for any advice!! Globaliser Posted September 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2005 IMHO, you're better off staying comfortable at the airport. It really isn't long enough to do anything useful in town (at least, not without causing yourselves a great deal of travel stress) and there's very little to see closer by. TNTKP Posted September 8, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted September 8, 2005 Globaliser, Thanks for the info. Was thinking it might be better to stay at the airport, but didn't want to miss out on something of interest that was close by. You're right, less hassle to stay put. parody Posted September 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2005 Well, here is my experience of about 3 years ago. I had a 5 hour layover at CDG on my way to Barcelona. Since my luggage was checked through to my final destination and I didn't have to lug it around, I opted to take the RER rail system to central Paris, having never been there before. In doing a little research online, I see that trains come every 15 minutes for the approximately 35 minute ride. I used an ATM to obtain some Euros to purchase my tickets. While I don't think I could spend quality time looking around, I could get a little taste of the city during my short stay. Being a fan of "The Amazing Race", it certainly beat killing time at the airport.
