LandlockedMidwesternBro Posted March 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2015 Just a quick heads up: remember that ships time and port time are different -- and make sure your device doesn't change automatically. I had my trusty iphone with me, sim card removed, wi-fi off, set to ship's time. We took our Stingray City tour with Nativeway (great!). We braved the crowds at Calico Jack's (busy!). We went back to port, shopped a bit, and I fired up my e-mail and called the kids back home over voip. MISTAKE! Firing up the wi-fi triggers the phone's automatic time adjustment -- putting us an hour back! So if the last tender leaves at 4pm ship time, it was 3pm local; if I'd maximized my time in port based on my phone's clock, I would've waited until 4pm local, or 5 pm Ship's time -- a disaster! We blissfully walked around downtown, commenting about how much time we had left. Only when I talked to someone back home did the change become apparent. And caused a flash of panic. We had about a half hour to spare, so it turned out fine. But we were on a tender with a man who had missed the boat in Fort Lauderdale, and had flown to GC to join the cruise with the rest of his family! The boats will leave without you; make sure you have the right time!
