vulcan1971 Posted March 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Does Celebrity have movies you can check out and watch in your room? No. However, you can turn on your television and go to the pay-per-view section if you care to watch movies. wdblake Posted March 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2015 They usually have seven to ten free movies as well as movies to purchase on your stateroom tv. The TVs have USB ports if you want to plug in your own media. The menu buttons are on the right side.
helen haywood Posted March 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2015 And, oddly enough, the free movies are found under the "For Fee" movies. I had clicked on that option in idle curiosity, having no intention of purchasing one, and saw "Free For Fee" movies. ?! So feel free to peruse the movies to see them all. illiniwahoo Posted March 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2015 The s class ships have a great on demand system! There are plenty of free movies. You can even pause them and come back to them. I watched a movie 20 mins at a time as I was getting ready for dinner every night and it always saved my place
phoenix_dream Posted March 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2015 And the M class ships are severely lacking in the movie area:(
Lyndihop Posted March 22, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Anyone happen to know how much the movies cost?
sunshade11 Posted March 23, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2015 As mentioned above there are around 10 free movies and then another 10 free "family/children" movies. Am thinking the movies you had to pay for were around $13.00. Not sure which ones were playing (never looked that far).
Lyndihop Posted March 23, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2015 I never would have guessed $13!! That's ridiculous..
vulcan1971 Posted March 23, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 23, 2015 While I don't disagree that $13 per movie seems steep, it is cheaper than a couple or family of four going to a first run movie.
Happy2cruise Posted March 23, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 23, 2015 I never would have guessed $13!! That's ridiculous.. I thought the same thing. Just got off the Silhouette and the on demand movies were $12.99..very pricey as you can rent them at home for $5.99:confused: IMO, the number of free ones was surprising. We had about 5 or 6 of them and Budapest Hotel was one of the offerings and that was listed in about five different language:D
willow949 Posted March 24, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted March 24, 2015 We usually have cruised on Holland and they have about 200 movies you can check out for free. This sounds really expensive on the Celebrity. I hope the $13.00 movies are first runs! I just might have to bring my laptop with movies of my own. Lyndihop Posted March 24, 2015 #13 Share Posted March 24, 2015 I think we'll be taking the laptop. Since we're going to be on the ship for 16 days. This movie rental could get pretty costly.
rjrpar Posted March 24, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 24, 2015 $13 doesn't seem too bad. You can't compare to what you pay at home; beers are $.75 at home. I can't understand why people will pay thousands of dollar for a nice vacation and then complain about about a few bucks here and there.
Lyndihop Posted March 24, 2015 #15 Share Posted March 24, 2015 True. However, I think all the cruise lines are getting a bit over zealous on dining, booze, etc. I've had friends concurring that there's too much nickel and dime going on.
julia Posted March 25, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 25, 2015 I never would have guessed $13!! That's ridiculous.. Agree with the above! I guess the logic is that they don't want you in your cabin watching overpriced movies when you could be at the bars buying overpriced drinks or eating in an overpriced specialty restaurant..... :p

If you take a USB to USB cable with you and plug it into the side of the TV you should be able to watch your laptop movies on the stateroom TV. There are no menu buttons on the remote but the ones on the right side of the tv work. We take a media player with a hard drive and watch our favorite movies on our cruises.
