NCL Spirit: Likes and/or dislikes of the Spirit

I have been looking at that cabin for my sailing. Did you find that it was noisy and crowed being so close to the stairs and elevators. We sleep with the tv on low volume for background noise anyways. Was the hall crowed with people leaving the ship on port days?

Thanks

We had this cabin quite a few years ago. We loved it. There was some noise from the stairs, but nothing too bad. We didn't notice problems on port days.

I'll see if I can find some pictures to post.

Wonderful thread. We are first time cruisers booked for the grand med may 16. 5 adults 2 kids in 2 balconies and an inside deck 10. Thanks for the tip on the quiet area behind Raffles. Amy tips on getting a quick breakfast on pet days? Best times and places I mean?

We just booked this ship for February. Can anyone tell me if the interior cabins have refrigerators?

Here is the email quote I received from NCL a few days ago regarding refrigerators:

"All staterooms on the Norwegian Spirit have refrigerator (Mini Bar)"

Sorry to be different than the other posters.

Have cruised on the Star, Jade and Spirit and we thought the Spirit was the worst out of the 3.

Reasons being is small cabins, Entertainment was very ordinary to say the least especially the so called live music around the ship. We also thought the food was the worst we have had on any ships.

Our spirit cruise was a 12 nighter in the Med. Although we still enjoyed this cruise we probably wouldn't sail on her again.

Enjoy your cruise.

Cheers Bob.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "so called live music"?

I think he means the performers were not to his liking.

Every night there was always 2 different performers at the Champagne Bar. One doing an early set and the other the late set. There would also be a performer in Henrys Pub and they sometimes had karaoke there early evening. The bands were usually in the Galaxy of the Stars lounge.

We're booked on the Spirit in January, first NCL cruise. I've scoured the webs, and info about the Spirit has not been forthcoming. Does the Spirit do the white night, or glow party, or anything? Anything else I should know about NCL or the Spirit that's way off-base from Carnival, Royal Caribbean or the like? Thanks much.

Yes they do the White night party and also a toga party etc. We loved the ship and the crew were very friendly and helpful. One complaint was that it was cold in the Theatre and some dining rooms and lounges. The safe in the room was very low and so close to the floor that you have to lie down to access it. Could never get a lounge chair by the pool unless you go at 7:00 a.m.

We would cruise on the Spirit anytime. Loved it. We had cabin 4479 (an inside cabin) that is 281 square feet. So spacious and yes, we had a mini fridge.

It seems most cruised last year or earlier this year..anyone cruise from PC?

Yes, I was on the first cruise from PC on Nov 21. I had a great time. I was traveling solo and looking for a relaxing trip so the smaller ship was perfect for me. Just enough to do without ever feeling like I was missing out on anything. Service was good. Not up to Disney standards, which is the only other line I've cruised, but still good. Aside from long waits to check in and tender, my main complaint was that the food could have been much better.

I'm happy to answer if you have any specific questions.

Thanks for the info and offer for additional info.

What time did you get to the port for check-in?

If you did the Western itinerary, was tendering slow at all ports, or just specific ports? Can you tell me more about the tendering process for this itinerary? Some ships do the number hand-outs in the mornings, but other seem to do line up and wait.

Thanks again! We are going in Feb on the Western itinerary and I can't wait. :)

I got to the port for check-in around 1pm. It took 2 hours to get through the security and check-in lines. I hope for your sake that they’ve improved the process since that first sailing.

I was on the Eastern itinerary and we only tendered at St. Thomas. They did number handouts in the morning. But I didn’t grab a number because I had signed up to go off board with the port shopping specialist. We were one of the first groups off the ship, after all the excursion groups, but we still waited at least an hour, maybe even closer to two. By the time I got to the tender boat, they were still only calling for group number 1 from the hand outs to get in line. Coming back on board at the end of the day, I waited about half an hour.

I hope you have fun in February! Despite some challenges I really did enjoy the cruise and the ship enough that I would consider doing it again, either repeating the Eastern itinerary (because I absolutely loved Tortola) or trying the Western itinerary for a change of pace. I wouldn’t mind checking out another ship, but can’t beat the convenience of sailing out of Port Canaveral for me.

Can you tell me what the Entertainment was onboard? NCL has limited info on this subject.

Thanks

Thanks. We loved the Spirit when we sailed out of New Orleans. I try to get to the port early and beat the crowds, so hopefully, we will have a shorter wait.

This info will help us decide how to approach whether or not to book shore excursions at our tender ports.

Wow - that is embarrassing. It is bad enough when I forget that someone else posted a question and I read the response, but that was my own question that they were responding to. I think I need a vacation so that my brain can recharge.

Thank you for re-finding that for me and posting it. :D
