fuzzycat Posted March 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2015 I have cruised with Royal four times, but only in interior cabins. My budget cannot afford a balcony. However, I have been asked to book a balcony cabin for the grandparents to come with us on a European trip. I would like to get a really nice balcony for them. I have read the posts about cabin 1688. Is this the cabin you would choose for your parents if you could book any regular balcony cabin (not a suite)?
reallyitsmema Posted March 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2015 We have sailed in 1688 twice before on the Mariner, Navigator's sister ship. We love that cabin, it is the size of a junior suite and has a big balcony. If the grandparents have any mobility issues, I would not consider that cabin as it is at the very back of the ship, so the walk to the cabin is long. There are no public stairwells, other than emergency stairwells, so to go to the Windjammer directly above the cabin, you have to walk forward to the elevator lobby. Just a few things to consider. fuzzycat Posted March 24, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted March 24, 2015 That is a good thought. I will discuss the distance to the elevators. Is there a cabin close to elevators that has an exceptional balcony, or are they all similar mid-ship?
