lucky cal Posted April 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Can anyone who has been on the Coral Princess recently let me know what type of hair dryers they have? Are they the tiny wall-mounted type or freestanding units? Are they decent or really bad? I am hoping I can make due and not have to bring my own. Thanks. spirit rev Posted April 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2015 We were on the Coral in January. The hair dryers are mounted on the wall and less powerful than the wall mounted ones in hotels. I brought my own, from previous experience. A fellow passenger with short hair complained about how terrible they were.
lucky cal Posted April 1, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Ugh! I was afraid that might be the case. Even the wall-mounted ones in hotels don't work well on my thick hair. But most hotels, at least, are moving to the freestanding dryers and those are generally more powerful. Guess I may need to consider taking my own, but I hate to do so for 2 weeks of travel in Alaska.

rivers2ocean Posted April 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2015 We were just on in March.....I thought the hair dryer was fine . But mine at home is not a salon brand ...just a normal smaller one so thats what I'm used to and hair is not to thick. It didn't matter much anyways because as soon as I stepped outside with the humidity ..any work done on the hair was for nothing as it took on a life of its own! We were on a cruise through the panama canal, so you will have better luck going to Alaska :p
Tyskie Posted April 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2015 (edited) We were on the Coral last year and yes, it's the wall mounted ones. :( For me they were fine - but I have fine hair. If your hair is long and/or thick I would suggest taking one from home. As said in another post, with the humidity in the Panama Canal, it really didn't matter. I would do my hair before dinner and wear a hat during the day :D Alaska weather would be different obviously! Miss Pat Posted May 7, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2015 Can anyone answer if they had varying speeds and temps, low and high is all i'm interested in...Thanks! Yes they have a low & high speed. I find them OK....not great but still better than having to pack my own since I like to travel as light as possible.
