General Debark Question - NCL

Hi All,

We are cruising NCL Rome to Rome starting May 6, 2015. I noticed on another post that someone recommended NOT putting suitcases outside the door the night before.

My husband and I are fairly light packers and travel with carry-ons only. Is this a real possibility? Would anyone give us a difficult time about it?

I've cruised three times in the past and all three times put my carry-on outside the door...because that was the instruction. I've always wondered if anyone has ever done this and if it's ok.

Can anyone answer this? Ever done this? This is my husband's first cruise and the only thing I've warned him about that might be stressful is the dreaded luggage pickup at the end of the cruise.

Are we able to skip this step? We're light packers. We travel everywhere with 22" carryons.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

You are not obligated to put any bags outside your cabin. I doubt that anyone would even realize that you did not. You will have to be able to carry off all your luggage without assistance. At some ports, there are escalators and you must have a free had to hold on to it. If you can't you will be directed to an elevator which can become backed up

Self-disembarkation is the way to go if you are able to manage your own luggage! You can get off the ship earlier than anyone else and miss the really long lines! We do this for all cruises both from a US port and overseas. If you are in a suite on NCL (Penthouse or above) you tell the concierge you want to disembark early and meet the concierge at a designated spot and the concierge will escort you and all other suite passenger who wanted early disembarkation off the ship via service elevators or express elevators. It is fantastic!
