PBNJ620 Posted April 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2015 How does this work? If I wanted to book a regular balcony for just me, do I still have to pay for two or has this changed recently?
Clarea Posted April 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) How does this work? You would have to pay a single supplement, which is usually 200%, so it's basically paying for two. However, you would pay only one set of taxes. Some sailings/categories have less than 200% supplement. Edited April 14, 2015 by clarea
cb at sea Posted April 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2015 The cabin's cost is based on DOUBLE OCCUPANCY...so yes...that's what the cabin will cost, whether there's 1 or 2 of you.
bkr50 Posted April 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2015 I've sailed solo numerous times and most of the cruises I've paid less than the 200% supplement. It depends on the time of year and itinerary. Cruise lines sometimes run single-supplement specials. There are some popular internet travel sites that publish this information. I won't mention by name since I don't know if it's against the rules.
bkr50 Posted April 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2015 Oh, one more thing I failed to mention, if you are Crown & Anchor, you receive double points sailing solo, more if sailing in a Jr. Ste or above. So a 7-day cruise gives you 14 cruise credits instead of the 7 you would normally receive if sharing a cabin with someone else.

Single supplements can vary a lot. I will be solo on the Rhapsody in May paying 125% fare. From watching prices, this deal was only available on the 7 & 8 March 2015 Did the Brilliance a couple of years ago from Rome to Amsterdam followed by the Norweigan Fjords, again solo, with no single supplement. I am watching on a site for us that 'cruise' and like to 'fish' for the best deals the Legend in August - currently single suplements are at 150% Pete
