Rci Are You Listening???

Recommended Posts

Actually, the second quote you took from my post was not really directed at you, though it would be easy to think so. Sorry for the confusion. My comment was directed at the people who so often get upset when any disagreement takes place on this board, even if the disagreement is civil and respectful. They'll say, "hey, back off! The OP is simply stating their opinion, which they have a right to do! You're all being so mean!" In reality, when someone starts a thread complaining about something but also asking for comments, there is usually very little true "flaming." Some people ask for opinions, but what they really want is validation of their position. They are not interested in any opinion that differs from their own. Everyone has a right to state their opinions, even the people who feel that the OP is being completely unreasonable. But there certainly is no reason for being personally insulting, you are right about that!

I apologize,I did think you meant it for me.I do agree with you about posters who ask an opinion and then claim they're being flamed when someone disagrees.I don't think some people do understand the difference between disagreement and flaming. That behavior is just as bad as when people truly do flame the posters.

I do disagree with the OP about compensation.Cruising during hurricane season is risky and you know this when you book.Last year's hurricane seasonreally showed everyone how bad it can be.How many posts were there last year from people who decided not to buy insurance and then felt they were owed something? The cruise I was on when we missed the island because of the weather wasn't even during hurricane season. The waves were too bad.The captain put out one tender and decided it would be too dangerous for the passengers. We had free drinks for a couple hours.I thought that was very nice and unexpected. The free drinks were served in the casino.Yes,people probably gambled a little more while they were there.Nobody was forced to gamble or drink.People complain all the time about how much money the lines make but the fact is they are a business. They also provide a great vacation and are a great value for the money. You can do everything or just relax.I go to Disney World quite a lot also.In bad weather certain attractions have to be shut down.I don't think anyone would expect any compensation when this happens. When it rains people probably go into the restaurants or stores and spend money they might not have. One woman on another cruise board felt that Delta should pay for her missed cruise. She lived in snow country and chose to fly down the morning of the cruise and the flight was cancelled because of a storm. She even admitted she didn't go down the day before to save on a hotel. She also didn't purchase insurance. She asked us to call the airline and threaten to boycott them. The circumstances in Bermuda were beyond RCCL's control.

I think the compensation actually came before the cruise. Sailing during hurricane season is generally much cheaper than during prime time. You save upfront and actually get compensation just for taking the chance even if you have a perfect cruise! It would suck to miss a port, but nothing is due because of it, especially during reduced price hurricane season.

Here we go again. People are never happy. How does anyone here know that RCCL is making more or less money because they leave port and spend a day at sea. Just FYI - Some ports only charge the port fees that you have paid because they want the revenue into the market.

For those of you that want to complain about RCCL because you had some bad weather and had to leave port a day early to protect you. WaWa. I am sick of people bashing RCCL for not doing this or that. It is well known and in all literature that they have the right to change or modify the itenerary. I don't blame them one bit and if I owned the Cruise Lines you wouldn't get anything from me either. Get over it quickly or go to Carnival where they will give you the same treatment. The cruise lines are doing a great job. I have been on 11 cruises with RCCL and Love them. I will be on RCCL in 3 weeks and plan to enjoy myself unlike some of you that always look for the worst in every situation so you cannot enjoy your cruise.
