mabel53 Posted April 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Is it possible to walk from the Pan American Port to Old San Juan? I'm interested in picking up a case of water and a 6 pk of soda for the cruise. If not walkable, how much is a taxi from the pier to a walgreens or grocery store? Lard Greystoke Posted April 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Is it possible to walk from the Pan American Port to Old San Juan? I'm a strong walker, and for me it's about 45 minutes. The walk is hot, and at least along the road by the north side of the channel, kind of unattractive. I don't consider it dangerous. But you don't have to go all the way to Old San Juan, which is on the far west of the channel (close to a mile). A shorter walk, but probably still about 20 hot minutes, gets you to the newer part of the city to the east. Don't know exactly where the stores are that end. Unless you're Hercules a case of water and 6-pack is going to get kind of heavy pretty quickly. I recommend a taxi, but since I don't take them, don't know about price. t_car Posted April 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2015 Why not stop off on your way to the hotel from the airport. Negotiate with the taxi driver, and he will know where to stop for this.

NO....please don't confuse the Pan American pier with the pier in Old San Juan.

luv2trvlnow Posted April 28, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Which pier does royal Caribbean use? The Pan American pier. We saw the Jewel of the Seas by the Summit when we embarked and disembarked in March.

MommaBear55 Posted May 1, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Do they still sell water at the little store inside the pier building? I know they sell some wine and liquor Edited May 1, 2015 by MommaBear55
ChelleBee Posted May 1, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 1, 2015 we stayed at the Marriott stellaris casino in feb 2014. It was about $40 round trip from the hotel to old town and back. It is a little further than the pan American peir, but not much. I think the suggestion from t_car was good...ask your driver to stop for a couple minutes so you can buy water on your way to the ship/your hotel. Ashland Posted May 3, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 3, 2015 Which pier does royal Caribbean use? RCI uses the Pan American pier when sailing in/out of San Juan...However if it is just an RCI port day stop they use the pier by Old Town.

This is the same thing I would suggest. OSJ is not all within walking distance and the closest store near the port will be about a 15 to 20 min walk. So, just tell the taxi driver to stop somewhere on the way. We did this and he stopped at a store, waited for us and only charged about $5 extra for doing this.
