dmundysr Posted September 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2005  Has anyone done any scuba or snorkling with Las Rocas Resort in Roatan? I'm looking for a good place to do both. Salt & Pepper is our lead candidate right now but still researching. Thanks for the imput.
skylock Posted September 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Yes, I dove with Los Rocas and several people snorkeled. It was very nice and private. Plenty of personalized attention. We were picked up at the cruise dock in a mini van and given a small tour of the island. The resort is very nice and the fried shrimp I had was fantastic. My shrimp dinner with 2 bottles of Coke was about $14. A steal. We hung out by the water a while and then told them when we were ready to return. Was dropped off at a shopping area close to the cruise dock. Not much to be had, but they did have some beautiful wood carvings. I bought 2 wooden apples for $11, down from $20. There are tons of children hanging around trying to sell you shells or what not. We were all so tired, I gave 2 boys a dollar each to carry our stuff around while we looked around and to the gate area for the cruise ship. This proved to be a good idea as they held all the other children at bay so we were free to look around without having our arms tugged at every few minutes. Never done Fosters, but it is probably nice too, but if you want more privacy, I suggest Los Rocas.

dmundysr Posted September 26, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted September 26, 2005 This was the reply they sent us: thanks for contacting us; we regularly serve the cruise ships guests and would be very glad to have you onboard. I can offer the divers a two boat dives package for only 59.00 $ , including the transportation from/to the dock. Depending on the ship schedule ( just in case if it's late) we will complete two one tank dives or one two tanks dive . Included in the package we will provide the weight belt and the air tank . The complete dive gear can be rented for an additional 10.00 $ . Prices are plus 16% sales tax . I can offer the snorkelers a beach & snorkeling package for 29.00 $ per person . The package will include the transportation from/to the dock , one boat trip, a shore trip right off our beach and the use of our beach facilities ( bathroom, showers, toilet) . If you need the snorkeling gear add 5.00 $ to the package. Price is plus 16% sales tax. Finally the "beach bums" will only pay 19.00 $ plus tax. If you need any further informations do not hesitate to contact me again . Looking forward to hearing from you , Pasquale
mnsawyer Posted September 28, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2005 See the thread below this about Salt and Pepper if you haven't already read it. Do this resort have a website? I've never heard of it? Was the beach nice? Was there tiki huts or umbrellas for shade? Thanks, Mary
skylock Posted October 1, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2005 There is a small dive shop at the resort and they seemed to have everything. We had our own, but I am sure they could fix you up with whatever you needed. It is a very small place with many people around to make sure all is going ok for you. It was about a 30 minute drive to the resort. Roatan is not like say cozumel. I saw few taxis there. I think it would be best if you just arranged for them to pick you up and then it is no worries. I think the web site is losrocasresort.com
