Thanks for the review. Our Valor cruise is in 25 days. DW is concerned about what to wear on the elegant nights. We have few opportunities to dress up, but we'd rather not be over-dressed (and over-packed). I wonder if you could give us an idea of what the attire was like on the elegant night.

We were on the Valor over easter and found that most everyone we saw really made an effort at elegant night. A few tuxedos, some military dress uniforms, suits/ties, sports jackets. Lots of cocktail dresses for the ladies including long ones.

I will say though it was Spring Break. It may have been a photo opportunity for a lot of families to get dressed up and take photos. Or get one more wear out of that prom dress for the teenagers.

I wore a dressy dress (aka sexy with high heels and sparkly jewelry) and my husband wore a sports coat. We fit in fine but could have gone dressier also.

You will see everything from tuxedos to nice jeans and polo shirts. I usually wear nice slacks, a long sleeve polo and topsiders.

I know that is not normally formal attire but for me that is as dressy as I get.

If you enjoy getting dressed up I say go for it. I can't speak for other cruiselines but on Carnival no matter how you dress you won't raise any eyebrows.

On two different nights in the dining room they had to ask people to leave. One night there were 2 ( women ???? ) that were so drunk their friends had too hold them up. On a 2nd night , there was a little person that was drunk and he fell down the stairs at the entrance to the MDR , his friends had to pick him up. Of course there were lots of drunks in the casino , but no more than expected.

I won't lie I like to drink and not being perfect I have had too much on more than one occasion but I hate being around people like you just described.

I think some people the only opportunity they have to cut loose are places such as a cruise and they don't know how to throttle it down.

Hopefully they don't hurt themselves or someone else.

Fortunately I never saw what you described.

Thanks for this. :)

My beautician has Valor booked in mid May for a week (Western) and I so want it to be a good one for her. She's been through a lot in the past year and is so looking forward to getting away.

She's not a member of CC but would like to know what the Piano Bar is like?

Does Valor have a Steakhouse?

Sorry, I'm trying to help her but the only Carnival ships I've only been on were Glory, Fascination, and Fantasy. :o

LuLu

Is she cruising 5/16 ? Please let her know we have one of those "other" pages as well if she doesn't want to do CC. 25 Days to go (or 24 days and 23 hours) :-)

He was drunk everywhere, everyday... sad... he looked like he already had enough problems...

I am glad it was just not me that noticed. You are right it was truly sad . I do think his friends tried to help him , but he did not seem to listen

A quick report about my 4/12/2015 Valor cruise.

We had cabin #7434 which is one of those odd shaped cabins way in the back. It was nice with a huge balcony. The quietest cabin we have ever had.

Our cabin steward Michael had a subdued attitude. He was quiet, friendly and did his job well. Extra tip for him.

We were in 7442 on the 8 day Southern that sailed on 4/17. We also had Michael (my name as well) and my wife commented that he always seemed tired. When we spoke to him we found out he has two children, a 14 year old girl and a 9 year old son. He works 6 months at a time on the cruise ship and only gets 2 months off to see them. He loved our twin grand kids and gave them each a ship on a stick and a medallion (Ive never seen those).

Yes, he did seem subdued, but he got a generous tip from us for being so generous to our grandchildren.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise on the Valor! We sailed on this ship in March out of San Juan and loved our cruise! Chisanga served us at breakfast in the dining room each time we went and she was so much fun!

That is so ironic my name is Michael also. It really made it easy to remember our stewards name.

As mentioned above he seemed subdued and yes he seemed tired. He did his job and he did it well. The last couple of days he did seem well rested and a little more outgoing.
