Florence is a busy and far from port so planning with private car is totally the best!

Look on trip advisor for private walking tours. I love Lucca... My mother stays for a month every year there. Forte dei Marmi is a wonderful beach and shopping community. Not sure how far your port is from there.

We did SPB to Siena and San Gimignano... might be similar to Lucca IDK. We were not able to find anyone on roll call to share with (joined the RC late!) -- so we ended up paying just a little more than the HAL excursion to the same places for a private mini-van and driver! and we did have to buy our own lunch but the driver set us up with a great place!

We did a Vespa tour that visited a couple wineries and included lunch at a gorgeous villa. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I need to find the name of the company. They picked us up in the heart of Florence and took us to their shop to begin. It took several hours, but I remember they had various length Vespa tours running all day. We were on a land trip so time wasn't a problem, but worth looking into for something different.
