suekay Posted May 2, 2015 #28 Share Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) I'm reading your blog lying in bed in Grand Mercure Roxy, Singapore trying to stay awake. We flew in this morning and have just been for a (very slow) wander around the old Katong district with its Perakanan houses. As you say, it's very humid, but I'm not complaining:) See you at the pool bar tomorrow Edited May 2, 2015 by suekay
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted May 2, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted May 2, 2015 I've had a lovely day and met some wonderful CC people. Continuing my photo story..... This is the view from my room.... .as I said not terribly exciting..... Dining in the hotel is not cheap.... there were many queuing for lunch today. The Raffles tour was not quite as described but the tea exceeded expectations. I need to get consent from others to post their pics here. I was picked up at the hotel and taken to a central bus place where I finally met some more roll call members. Our first stop was to the Asian Cultural Museum. We only had 20 minutes here so very little time to really see anything in depth. The Singapore Heritagefest was in full flow. More info on the museum here

We walked across the Cavenagh Bridge In front of the Fullerton Hotel I have no idea why one of the images is showing sideways here...... it's fine in photobucket.... Rare NorbertsNiece Posted May 2, 2015 Author #34 Share Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) We head in the coach to the Raffles Hotel St Andrews Cathedral, so called as the funds raised to build it came from Scotland. one of the very few facts our tour guide came out with. The Hotel Main entrance.... we are to enter through the side one as we are not guests. The making of a Singapore Sling This is a sort of traditional first drink pic of me..... please note the healthy bottle of water alongside..... Will continue when I've heard from the others..... BekkaW Posted May 2, 2015 #35 Share Posted May 2, 2015 Singapore...... If you like to shop you'll enjoy it. If you love to shop this'll hit so many buttons. I was aware that Orchard Road is the shopping district and that my hotel, the Royal Plaza on Scott's, is right there, but honestly the knowledge and the actual experience are way way apart in reality. It's phenomenal. Above ground a bustling, vibrant neighbourhood. Below ground the same to a factor of 10. We stayed there before our Voyager cruise out of Singapore and loved it :) Great location
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted May 2, 2015 Author #36 Share Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) We stayed there before our Voyager cruise out of Singapore and loved it :) Great location Not only does the ION mall have 4 floors below ground but 5 above. I went to look for an Art Gallery there this morning and saw some lovely Chagall works. I had lunch there this morning..... Wanted sashimi but found myself in a Chinese / Indian food court and had this, a beef soup; they substituted the noodles with rice for me...... I couldn't eat it all. It was yummy. SG$6, that's £3 or $4.50 ish Edited May 2, 2015 by NorbertsNiece
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted May 2, 2015 Author #37 Share Posted May 2, 2015 Good morning all. A tad shocked at the numbers of views this has already acquired. Thank you so much. Happy to answer questions. Woke at 430am. Slightly better than last night. Made it to breakfast slightly after 6. I am back on the Gluten Free wagon.... necessity. They provided me with some plain and raisin bread which I toasted and brought back to the room. I see the image that was showing sideways here yesterday has righted itself. Roll call friends We get to walk through some of the hotel grounds Lunch can be served outside..... all the tables are set out
