Rare austinetc Posted May 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Friends and I will be on the Star this December. I'm wondering if anyone on board now has experience with restaurants' accommodating passengers with celiac disease. A friend has an extreme form of the disease, so any gluten is unacceptable. Other cruise lines have been very compassionate, but now that I've read the Star's reviews I'm concerned that their limited menu options may not be as flexible. id4elizabeth Posted May 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2015 In the World Cafe I've noticed items marked as gluten free. Don't know if there would be enough to make a meal out of these items, but have not paid that close attention. Will be more observant and report back later. Chef's Table, probably not, as substitutions seem to be out of the question. I'll check next time we're in Manfredi's.
sitraveler Posted May 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2015 If you have any dietary concerns you must inundate Viking with them. My TA claimed to advise V of a salt restriction but it was not noted on arrival and Viking made no attempt to work with it. And they do use huge amounts of salt in cooking. You can watch in the world cafe as the cooks keep adding it.
