dukenmelo Posted May 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Can someone please tell me what you get for booking next cruise while onboard? Thank you!!
figdu Posted May 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2015 You get OBC in the following amounts: You get $50 for a 3 - 5 day trip; $75 for 6 days; $100 for 7 day, and $200 for 10 and >.
2Shoes2Go Posted May 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2015 The loyalty agent can usually see more of the available cabins in your chosen category. Online, only 10 are displayed. So-- more choices, if available. :)
Halfpint012 Posted May 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Can someone tell me the details on the pricing & how that works. I've seen some people say they book fake ones for the credit and then change the date later. Is there no fee when doing this or how does that work? I think you can give them a deposit and select a sailing but be sure to book under a past guest type of rate and then move the deposit to a different date when you finally find the cruise you for sure want to go on. But you still have to give a full deposit up front. We've done this before. And like I mentioned, make sure you do it under a past guest rate. If you do it under Early Saver, you'll have penalties for switching cruises.
stargate fan Posted May 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Can someone tell me the details on the pricing & how that works. I've seen some people say they book fake ones for the credit and then change the date later. Is there no fee when doing this or how does that work? When we book a cruise on a cruise, we always book the shortest, farthest out cruise that is available using PAST GUEST rate only. Then we have two years to either make final payment, cancel, or switch to a different cruise. When we find the cruise we want to switch, we contact our PVP who does his magic. We then have to pay the additional deposit amount for the longer cruise. The on board credit amount changes according to the length of the new cruise. (I'm a visual learner so here goes: When we sailed Victory back in November, we booked a four day cruise that was sailing 18 months away. We paid $150 pp deposit and would receive $50 obc. Months later, the 13 day transatlantic Vista cruise bookings opened up so I called my PVP, who transferred the booking number to the new cruise. I had to pay an additional $250 pp because the new deposit was $400 pp. Our obc amount changed to $200.) Hope this helps. It's nice to know that the OBC amount can be changed when you increase the length of the cruise.
Beach_gal Posted May 1, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 1, 2015 What if there's no future cruise desk on your ship? I've read conflicting responses. Some say you can call within a certain timeframe and book with the OBC, and some say no more. Anyone know for certain?
carrieluvsgreg Posted May 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 2, 2015 What if there's no future cruise desk on your ship? I've read conflicting responses. Some say you can call within a certain timeframe and book with the OBC, and some say no more. Anyone know for certain? I'm almost positive every ship has one. Some are better placed than others. On fantasy class ships it's right be the stairs that lead to lido from promenade- right beside the casino bar where they do lots of loud music at night and lots of loud trivia during the day- when the desk is open... Dumbest idea ever for placement. Dream class ships thought it out better and place it on the "quieter" end of promenade and actually gave the fca a desk to sit at and chairs for the passengers to sit. I haven't been on the other classes in so long... I don't remember where it is... But ask guest services if you can't find it.
jacksmycat Posted May 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 2, 2015 So if I know which cruise I want to go on and it less than a year out, should I still book under past guest rate and then transfer to an early saver when I get home? Will that help out my pvp if I do it that way? I would be booking on the ship in september for a cruise the next may.
Ti2m Posted May 2, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 2, 2015 I will NEVER book on-board again. I said that the last time with Princess but this time I mean it. Due to scheduling problems we had we had to change our cruise. It cost $50 per person so our OBC is now a wash. There is no flexibility with a Carnival on-board booking. Unless you are positive about the ship and dates and think that $100 OBC is worth it, I would never recommend it.

If you book at another rate such as past guest, you don't incur the fees if you change early enough in advance. You only get the ability to claim price drops up til final payment, but allows more flexibility.

I am a past guest but this is what he sold me. I did not realize that past guest would have been flexible. We broke even and will not be booking on-board again. Call your PVP when you get home and let them know. They will take over booking.
