I leave this sunday from NY. I will hopefully report back. Now there was a thread started about the buffet and you are not allowed to bring food back to your room. This is in addition to the change of not being allowed to bring food back from a specialty restaurant. So I will see.

We just returned from the first sailing. We had a good time. The weather in Bermuda was good. The weather while at sea, cool, rainy and breezy. The fireworks show was a success.

Food was ok. Service was fine. Shows great, as usual. The noodle bar that is now free was the same quality as when you paid for it. But I don't know how long that will last. We enjoyed moderno breakfast buffet the days it was open.

We only order a soup and fish usually for dinner so we didn't do any pay for dining. I don't like NCL's beef, but I am not much of a red meat eater We did have cheeseburgers up on deck 16 one day. They were cooked to order. The grilled chicken sandwich at Osheenans was good

We were on the ship by noon and off at about 745 am because we do carry off luggage and catch the LIRR home.

They show movies late at night in the atrium still. I think there was one at h2o but it was raining out. When it's bad weather they hold the parties inside in the atrium which is way too small.

The Second City show we saw was really funny.

Casino, horribly smokey. Which it always is. And as always with this ship, I come home with an upper respiratory infection.

This was our 4th sailing on the Breakaway in the past 15 months and we have no plans to sail this ship again.

The day we were out horseshoe bay it was nice and the beach is pretty and people were actually swimming. Too cold for me.

We took the little train ride in St George, we did the ferries and the busses and enjoyed seeing everything we could. We walked around the dockyard the last day and it was warm enough to wear shorts. We had bought the 3 day passes and gave them away to some tourists who were staying there since there was a day left on them.

We have lots of cruises booked on NCL and other lines over the next year.

Thanks for the review. We will be sailing on the Breakaway in August, our first NCL cruise. We have sailed to Bermuda 5 times on the summit and have had a wonderful time. We love the service, albiet the this is getting a little run down and in need of refurbishment, especially the adult pool area and cabins so we have decided to try NCL which has many bells and whistles- We hope that we have made the right decision or will go back to Celebrity for our summer cruise.

Have you ever tried Celebrity? In your opinion how does it compare?

Thanks,

Do you remember what night the fireworks were done?

We will be elite after our next cruise with Celebrity. You can't really compare NCL to Celebrity. Two totally different kind of vacations. The only similarity is that you have a cabin on a ship in the ocean. And that will also depend on whether you are in haven or not.

For us, the major issue is the smoking. I love, love, love there is no smoke inside Celebrity ships.

On Celebrity the food in the dining rooms is better, the service is better, if you like pools, the pools are much better on Celebrity. Also less kids usually. But the grill on the Breakaway if you like hamburgers is much better than Celebrity. I think the buffet is nicer on Celebrity Solstice ships but we aren't big eaters so we just pretty much get cereal in the morning or some salad at lunch.

However, the amount of things to do on NCL sort of breaks that for us. We love their entertainment choices. Their shows are much better than Celebrity. We just sailed the Reflection back to back in November so although they are trying to modernize, it just seems awkward. NCL has the whole hang out and dance vibe going on.

We sailed the Summit also. But the Breakaway blows that ship away for all things to do. Just be aware the balconies are tiny. The pool deck is ridiculously crowded. If you are into slides it's awesome. Walking the rope course is a fun experience for sure. Their deck parties are very fun. People still dress up on NCL. Or you can just go casual.

If you are getting the beverage package it is NOTHING like on Celebrity.

No water, no coffee, no juice, no healthy smoothies.

We sail all the lines for different reasons. There is always something good to love about a ship/line that makes you want to sail again.

I think you'll have a fun time. We have the Jade booked for europe this summer, along with Princess and Celebrity and then the Escape and the Getaway in January.

We pretty much always find something to love about our cruise, even if there are things we may not be really pleased with.

I agree with always finding something to love about any cruise! We are in the Haven on the Breakaway so I am expecting a really nice time. Our suite is also supposed to be really nice, and yes a small balcony-but truthfully we hardly even use the balcony. I do not like the idea of smoking all over the ship and hopefully we will never enter the casino- I really enjoy the Solstice class ships more then the Millenium class ships. The choice of dining venues as well as other venues is superior on the Solstice class ships- and the buffet so much better- We will only dine in the specialty restaurants on NCL so the food should be good. I hope! A new adventure awaits!

Actually there wont be smoking all over the ship but there is in the casino which is open to the above and below deck via the casino )not the main) atrium

Those decks are ones you may want to spend time going thru as well so it's a shame about all the smoke

It would have been so simple to just raise the glass railing that surrounds the casino atrium up to the ceiling but as it stands they are only 3/4 feet high so smoke goes all over

As for avoiding the casino that's not so easy to do but can be done

The good news is that one can walk thru the ba casino easier and quicker that on other dark smokey ships casinos

It is a bright and beautiful casino and I would spend time there if not for the smoke

Sure will.. maybe someone who is coming back on the 10th on the breakaway will report. I think the 3-10th was the 1st sailing out of NY. But I will look into it.
