Speedy55 Posted May 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2015 First time cruiser. I just printed my luggage tags and noticed that luggage should not be larger than 24 w x 16 h. I am almost certain that my luggage is greater thar 16 inches high. I understand it cannot weigh more than 50 pounds but has anyone had experience with cruising with larger luggage? Must I go buy all new luggage? Thank you
amberhood Posted May 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2015 I'd say that's for carry on. For checked luggage you'll be fine. You should see what amount of luggage people take on the ship!
Speedy55 Posted May 10, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Thank you very much for the reply. Since we are going to Alaska we are packing bulkier clothing.
Speedy55 Posted May 10, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted May 10, 2015 I just realized my mistake by doing more research. There is no length restriction. I was confusing length with height. I'm stressing too much over this cruise.

jmcancruise Posted May 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Don't stress. Plan yes, stress no. Once you step your foot on the ship you will be amazed how relaxing cruising can be. Have a wonderful cruise.

cb at sea Posted May 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2015 There really is no size limit for checked bags....they do like you to limit the weight so the folks slinging them about can do so more effectively!
love my grandkids Posted May 10, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 10, 2015 As long as it gets thru the xray scanner you will be fine. They can be rather hard on luggage. we dont use expensive luggage for cruising anymore.

I always have to print out a image of what it should look like when measured and I will measure my luggage way more then needed lol. gotta love those pre cruise jitters. hope you enjoy your cruise! Your carry-on needs to be small enough to fit on the little conveyor belt so they can check it going through security. If you are not flying in to a cruise port you have no restrictions on your checked luggage.
