To put it into perspective, $230 in 1928 dollars would be $3194 today. However, it is interesting that shore excursions were included in the fare.

These two are of Nieuw Amsterdam.. the second one is of the interior of the ship. So different from today's ship.

 

 

 

 

 

I loved the shots of the children's area/nursery and that they had swords in the gymnasium for fencing (I assume!?!?!?).

 

I had the opportunity to go aboard the 2nd NA (1938-1974) several times at the very end of her career. My grandmother (who'd sailed HAL to Europe several times) took me for tea onboard the ship when she'd stop in Fort Lauderdale.

 

Even at her advanced age, I thought she was a gorgeous ship!
